Ozzie Smith or Bill Mazeroski

Ozzie Smith sucked on offense couldnt hit for his life. Yea he was phenominal defensively but just cause you win some GG and could do a couple of back flips you shouldnt be in the HOF(tori Hunter's numbers are better and noway in heck does hunter get it) so ozzie smith shouldnt be there

Bill Maz- 1 Hr in the WS and boom the guy is in the HOF give me a break. There are 100's of players that put up muhc better numbers then him that arent in the HOF

I know you sdaid 1 but these 2 guys are pretty even imo

All one-dimensional players:

All pitchers
Ozzie Smith
Brooks Robinson

All players that have not reached BOTH of those "magic" milestones:
500 HRs
3000 Hits

Pitcher milestones don't matter because pitchers shouldn't be in.

As we all know and have learned from the brilliant minds of half the guys on these boards, offensive-powerhouse guys are the ONLY ones who deserve to be in the HOF.

Baseball is 100% about offense and home runs...so no one else matters.

Bobby Doerr.
Only batted over 0.300 three times, most hits in a season 172(ended career with 2042), only 381 doubles, 89 triples, and 223 homeruns. Lifetime average - 0.288, OBP 0.362, but his SLG was 0.461.

I don't want to see any player taken out, I'd put Rose in as a player, Shoeless-Joe is in, and there are some players I'd like to see in the Hall that aren't.

Take out every umpire, owner, commisioner, and journalist before any player...

Bill Mazeroski - His numbers are nowhere near hall worthy

Phil Rizzuto.

He hit only 38 home runs and had 563 RBIs in his career, while posting a mediocre .273 average, that is like a Jose Offerman type career. Rizzuto benefited from playing on a dynasty and announcing for the Yankees for 40 years.

I also strongly agree with the Mazeroski selection. A .260 career hitter with marginal power as a 2nd baseman doesnt cut it to be in the Hall.

Im glad i read the whole post before i started my rant haha. I thought you were agreeing with these guys. This thread is gonna be a great read as was the last that turned into an ozzie smith shouldnt be in thread. The thinking behind some peoples posts is a mystery to me. Ozzie is unquestionably a hall of famer and as for maz hes another guy that people only look at his offensive numbers. He was an 8 time gold glover and 7 or 8 time allstar as well as a clutch hitter in the post season (im not just talking about his big home run either). He batted .400 in 3 nlcs and .323 in 2 world series both of which the pirates won. Baseball is not just about the long ball people. if defense didnt matter they wouldnt play the field.

They will never, nor should they, take players out. They can certainly do more to keep so many from getting in. Maybe raise the percentage to 80% to get in or something.

like I said do you see Andrus Jones, Mike Cameron or Tori Hunter being a HOFer just because their gold glovers. A ball player generally is good at hitting and fielding but look at these players that are medicore at best at fielding and win a GG. Prior to last season there was atleast 2 other better shortstops than Derek Jeter(im a Yankees fan) and Jeter won it. So I dont think anyone really takes gg's as serious as tyhey did say 20 years ago. W/ that said I just dont see how Ozzie Smith is a Hofer while players like Blyvan,Lee Smith and Dawson are not.
