Total props to Leyland for handling it like a professional manager in the post-game interviews.

That was a terrible play by Miguel Cabrerra. They should at least go back and make that an error so it would be a no hitter.

How do you figure? It was a shot mid range in the hole. Cabrera was the closest to it. He fielded his position correctly, threw soundly and got the runner out.

Agreed to some point. But in this case, it's the WORST thing ever. He totally just killed Gallaraga's chance at immortality in the game of Baseball.

By the way, anyone notice that Jim Joyce looks like Rich Gossage?

Thank you! as we all can tell boxbreaker didn't want to see a perfect game by Armando right... if it was your guy then I bet you would be just as pissed off too.
no I wanted to see it, he just looked really hittable in the 8th.

They will not institute replay because of this. A personal milestone is not going to make MAJOR changes in baseball. The call did not affect the outcome of the game.

Joyce blew the call not only for Gallaraga, but for every fan in attendance, for Tiger fans and for millions of baseball fans.
I hope there is a way to overturn his call by the commisioner.

it doesnt matter. The reason baseball is what it is, is because of the stats. This is a BIG deal and will be why a major replay rule will take place soon.

Re: OMG OMG WTF was that call in Tigers game?

Even if the runner had been safe by the same margin, the umpire HAS to rule him out in that situation.

Should have been the 3rd Perfect game of the season, no doubt about it.

just . . . wow

But it could have. Why wait till it happens. I dont see the problem with having a guy looking at a monitor with as headpiece on.

theres nothing "hittable" about a pitcher that that throws as good breaking as Galarraga

Leyland just said he doesn't expect to do anything about it, as it's the "human element" of the game. If Leyland and the team don't appeal, MLB won't do anything about it.

Just cause he looked real hittable in the 8th is weak. Every baseball fan in the world is disappointed in what happened. I wanted to see as bad as any Tigers fan.. He was robbed, nothing else to say.

For every single close call on the game?? MLB wants to take DOWN the time of a game, not add to it.

How do you choose what to challenge? You never know what's going to affect the outcome of a game...so do you do replay on every single close play?? I mean, ONE of those calls MAY affect the outcome.

Still gotta admit guy... the ump is an idiot and blew the call.

I mean Burnett got a no hitter with like 8 walks.... guys have had easier no-hitters, etc.... Armando deserved it 83 pitches or something through 27 hitters WOW!.

Armando might never do anything again who knows... atleast he would have had something to hang his hat on but this idiot ruined it.

Shep :ugeek:

i agree with the HR replays, but they need to make a rule that replays can be used in infield plays when a freakin perfect game hangs in the balance. There worried it will slow up the game and the integrity....bs bs bs bs bs, a blown call just cost a ballplayer a once in a lifetime shot. The kid did it. Everyone knows it and im sure Leland recognized it in the clubhouse. Just a shame.

Theres been several options proposed, the most reasonable being:
"Any scoring play that changes the score or outcome of a game may be reviewed. Managers may also have the option to review 1 play per game at their own discretion. "
