Weimer - Definitely keeping...I've yet to have many Kings leave the collection. Now if Pineda in NY runs against Felix in Seattle for AL CY this year that is another story :o

Scotty - Less than $60 shipped my man...I agree, I didn't think Topps nor Tier 1 set for that matter had it in them ;)

3.42 FIP
1.099 WHIP

This is pretty much what happened to everyone with a big Montero stash:

Call me crazy but I say not really. His prices aren't inflated right now anyways because it's the offseason. Next year he is going to be getting AB's guaranteed in a much weaker pitching division under MUCH less pressure. Eh, I'm trying to rationalize a reason to be optimistic. ::facepalm:: :benson:

Campos is the key to the entire deal. Got a DM from my scout connection on twitter, told me Campos has better pure stuff than Pineda and can project out to be a 1.

FYI - BA's Conor Glassey said he had Campos as their #5 prospect prior to this trade. I've tweeted John Manuel to see where he'd put him in his Yankees list.

I love that part of the deal as well. No doubt eased trading away an everyday potential offensive force. And Noesi is a nice mid-back rotation candidate that was expendable for the Yanks.

No he's not. The key is the headlining players, because if Pineda struggles, do you think Yankees fans will be like "Oh, it's ok, Campos is pitching pretty good in Low-A!"? He's the x-factor, assuming Pineda and Montero perform up to expectations, but not the key.

+1 Let's not miss the obvious. This is a challenge trade. The secondary guys make sense for both teams. Noesi can pitch for the M's now, which helps them after trading Pineda. Campos is raw, has plus stuff, and won't be ready for a while. Nice trade chip for the Yankees who can hope he develops into a big time prospect.

Good trade for both clubs - at least for the short run. I would bet on the M's winning in the long run just because a bat is always a safer long term play than an arm. Yanks really needed pitching so this really helps them in 2012.

But I think the M's just got Edgar Martinez v 2.0. Hope it doesn't turn into Jay Buhner for Ken Phelps v 2.0 for NY (actually, yes I do!).

Followup - Manuel says he would rank Campos at #6, while Callis would rank him # 5, on the Yankees top prospects list.
