This trade also makes Dellin Betances or Manny Banuelos easier to move for a bat.

I read some Mariners fans saying that Ivan Nova may be included.

If so. Even more...

Wes is absolutely right that everything could be OK for folks that have held Montero. However, it's obviously a bad day since Montero went from the most popular team in baseball playing in an excellent hitters park in a great lineup to a moderately popular team that plays in a terrible hitters park in a lineup that is anemic (though with some promise). No matter what happens, if there are profits they will be smaller and if there are losses they will be larger. If Montero starts hot people may be able to get their money back or make a small profit; if he were a Yankee those profits would be much larger. Given the high buy-in, I think the only way there will be big profits made is if he turns into a superstar.

Montero is a oppo field power hitter, problems is Safeco is a death knell to RH oppo power hitters only 3 out of 49 HR's hit to Right Field were hit by RH hitters.

So your saying a RHP like Pineda pitching well at Safeco will be punished by the short right porch at Yankee Stadium?

Talk about a ridiculous statistic. Of course the overwhelming of the home runs hit to right field were hit by left handed hitters. Find me a park where that isn't the case.

His road ERA backs it up.

Wasn't one of the main reasons both Arod and KG wanted out of Seattle is when they moved to Safeco. They knew they couldn't put up big numbers there.

Griffey Jr. from what I recalled hated the place to hit in.

I dont understand why the Yankees dont let A Jones be the Dh he would be splitting time w/ Arod. Andrew Jones can easily put up similar numbers as Pena and wont strike out as much.

My 2012 Yankees Rotation....

Sabathia
Nova
Pineda
Kuroda
Hughes/Burnett/Garcia

I haven't seen this much rotation depth since the 2009 Red Sox! ( )

DH is still in the air.

I'll still take the pitcher who has proven he can do it in the AL East and in Yankee Stadium.

And I hope the DH spot stays that way. Why pick someone up (C Pena) to fill a spot that later in the year you will need open? Use Eduardo Nunez there until ARod, Jeter, etc. need days off.

What are your guys' ideas/opinions to this very hypothetical question for the Montero holders...if the Mariners go to AND win the World Series how will his prices be effected regardless if it was "specifically" him that took them there. With the great pitching I think the Mariners have a decent chance of doing things they have not ever done before in a very long time...just curious :)
