I agree with this completely. I think the booing is really getting to him as well. No matter how much you try and stay professional, it's hard to ignore it when you go from MVP chants to booing 6 months later. Not to mention I have heard, both in person and from other fans, that its not completely uncommon for people to hurl racial slurs at him, especially those in the RF stands. I can't imagine that makes him feel too good. Unfortunately Arizona fans in all sports are full of fair weather morons who think the struggles this season are due to Upton and Upton alone. I don't hear them booing other struggling players. People that question his work ethic don't realize that things just look easier for him. Yeah, he'll watch the occasional HR go out, but there are also times he's been at the ballpark before anyone else to work on one thing or the other. I know he'll always have more pressure on him, just like Bauer, because of his status as a potnetial great of the game, but still. I think the combination of the thumb injury, booing, and self-made pressure have just been too much for him. But as you said, he has looked stronger the last few weeks, and I think there will be good things from him in the second half and to give up on someone who finished 4th in MVP voting less than a year ago is beyond ridiculous.
I honestly believe they will regret every second of a Justin Upton trade, and can only hope Kevin Towers isn't as idiotic as I think he is. They gave in to fan pressure with the Byrnes contract, I hope the same doesn't happen here. Joe Gargiola was on the broadcast yesterday afternoon, and he was subtle yet quite obvious about how idiotic it would be to trade Upton, and I believe I heard that Vin Scully had some good things to say as well. Listen to your elders, Diamondbacks ownership, they know better than you clowns.
