Oh Albert!

Albert really is a dick! I once asked him for an autograph. I was polite and I had my Down syndrome autograph 'beard' with me, and we were the only one around, and he walked up and punched me right in the balls. Then, as I was laying on the ground, he gave me a smug look and stole the baseball cards out of my hands. Then, later, I saw he sold them on eBay! Why would I lie on the Internet?

I think it is funny that people change their opinions of someone as a human being bc they left a team for more money. There is no loyalty in sports, it is a business. Why should players show loyalty when teams show no loyalty?

this

It's not like he held an hour long ESPN special to talk about leaving and how many championships he was going to win in LA...... not 1, not 2, not 3 .... not 7

The reason for no homeruns is that he hasnt faced the Astros. That being said maybe we will do much better this year without him in the National League. But next year........

Really? They are? Seems like they are crying their asses off because Albert left. Case in point:

Unlike most StL fans (I say most because George seems to be reasonable) Albert realized that he's probably not going to be able to play 1B for the next 10 years. He needed to be on a team who can play him at DH. The Cardinals cannot do that. It's not that difficult to understand. The Cards might have offered him more money than the Angels did, and he still may have moved to the AL.

Well damn, I apologize. I realized I was actually kind of combining you and another member of the board. I mean, I thought two people were you. The other person had a Pujols in their sig for a long time, and somehow I thought he was you. My bad, my sincerest apologies. I have never noticed anybody hating on you! I think everybody likes you. I'm sorry for my post.

And yes nicktv08, I'm jealous that my dad never took me to games. I wasn't trying to be an internet tough guy though, just thought I was trying to help. lol.

Heh, then I guess I'm "crying my ass off" because I stated the facts.Sure it's disappointing, but if there were any tears I'd probably by typing in all caps now and dropping a bunch of exclamation points in every post or something. But I'm not.And while some of the fans are taking it harder than others I suppose, the players don't seem to care much anymore and still sit atop the NL Central.

Give me a break, he keeps himself in good shape, he has the body type to play 1B for the next decade if he really wanted to.He takes pride in his defense, I really doubt he wants to DH much at any point.

He is the next Griffey Jr. Great in one city for the first half of his career, Mediocre in his 2nd half of his career.

Crazy how much a change of scenery can affect a ballplayer's production. Albert must feel like a giant turd right now.

After one of the worst April's for Pujols and for any player in MLB history...May isn't starting well...

1-16, 1 single, 1 run scored, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 0 BB/1 K, .063 AVG, .125 OPS

If he can heat up in May, at least April could be his fluke month with a new team...but man, this is getting bad

Not in the lineup tonight.

It's an expensive day off for the club for sure, but if his name wasn't Albert Pujols, even Scioscia would have given him a day off weeks ago. Regardless, if the decline continues it certainly fuels the belief that he is indeed older than on record...something many have believed since day one.

It's almost like the drop Andruw Jones had when he went to the dodgers and it started in his walk year in Atlanta.

Pujols starting to put it together:
Stats by month (from ESPN):
April (92 AB) - .217 AVG/.265 OBP/.304 SLG/.569 OPS, 0 HR, 4 RBI, 6 BB/14 K
May(114 AB)-.263 AVG/.309 OBP/.491 SLG/.800 OPS, 8 HR, 24 RBI, 8 BB/14 K
June (24 AB) - .292 AVG/.387 OBP/.500 SLG/.887 OPS, 0 HR, 4 RBI, 5 BB/1 K
Overall (230 AB) - .248 AVG/.302 OBP/.417 SLG/.719 OPS, 8 HR, 32 RBI, 19 BB/29 K
Projected - .248 AVG/.302 OBP/.417 SLG/.719 OPS, 22 HR, 88 RBI, 52 BB/80 K

Obviosly Pujols had one of the worst months in history in April...He seems to be really improving and importantly is walking a lot more and striking out less...definitely needs to improve a lot on his OBP and is on the right track

Does anyone think Pujols has a shot at .300 AVG/.350 OBP/.500 SLG/.850 OPS, 30 HR, 100 RBI, 80 BB/80 K+ give or take...

What are your predictions?
At least his salary isn't that high this year lol...Vernon Wells salary is higher than the entire infield I think (Pujols, Trumbo, Kendrick, etc)

The power isn't quite back, but Pujols having a great June:

10 doubles, 4 HR, 18 RBI, 14 BB/7 K, .333/.421/.586/1.007

OPS could break .800 for the first time since April 8th for Pujols by end of June

It was only a matter of time before Albert started hitting. He'll get his numbers by the time it is all said and done.

On pace for over 100 RBI considering the bad start. He'll have 32...110...and hit .295. Imagine if Trout was called up before the end of April? Trout has been the MVP of that team and don't overlook Trumbo as well.
