Okay, I looked it up. 92 players in Metal Draft and 91 (iirc) in Valiant (only Josh Bell was missing in Valiant). All others would have had 25 purple autos. But was Josh Bell included as a Purple Auto from Metal Draft? I'm thinking no. So that's (91 + 91) X 25 = 4,550. Were there anywhere near 4,550 boxes of Leaf Rookie Retro made? Was it 1 Purple Autos per Rookie Retro Box?

Hmmm, excellent point on the production. Was there really 4500 boxes made? I thought it was a MUCH more limited print run than that.

Bigboyd and firstclass card guys are two completely different people. I have dealt individually with both of the guys mentioned. Bigboyd is located in Ohio and is well known for buy tons and tons of bulk and collection. He does not rip wax and as far as i know he does not get anything back doored from anyone. he just buys so much SH!T that he always has listings up, he also has a lot of people that work for him to list stuff up, makes sense why all of his stuff is shilled. Firstclasscardguys just rips a lot and also buy a lot of singles and grade them all. Hence the reason why they ALWAYS have the highest graded stuff on ebay.

4500/4 boxes per case = 1125

I cant see Leaf making that many cases. Maybe 1/2 of that and that might be on the high side

I once got two got two Mike Webster 25 stripes from a pack of 1991 Wildcard, so it is possible Bigboyd pulled them...

So where did the leftover Purples go? This could get interesting since 1 seller is listing so many cards of the same player.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Rookie Retro is only about a 500 case release. That's 2,000 purple autos but there were 4550 (-25 if there was no Ichiro Purple Metal), so you've got 2,525 left over purple autos...

Bigboyd has listed a huge number of Starlin Castro player sample Heritage autos. I am thinking they are being backdoored from Topps.

9 listed, 8 by bigboyd. I don't care who you are, you're not getting those from wax, even if a few were packed out.

Could he perhaps have a connection to Castro? I know I sent a couple players from 1963 requests for autographs through the mail and they included signed 2012 Topps Player Sample cards in addition to my cards. Perhaps someone just purchased the Castros from Starlin or Starlin may have mixed them in with the regular cards he had signed and nobody noticed.

Wonder if he is the guy that sets up at the National that had an entire display case full of Razor Press Plate Cards.

Last year I saw this same guy, it was more like three full tables of Leaf Press Plates. I figured something wasn't right, there is no way that guy opened that much product to have that many plates. I didn't care all that much because I've only bought one Leaf pack since they became Leaf.

what about the National Exclusive VIP sets, how does BO and others get a ton to sell online?

or even the Leaf National Exclusive Pop Century Packs, I remember last year buying a ton of them, along with the Metal packs. Shouldnt they all be destroyed if not sold at the National?

All the Starlin Castro autographs are obtained by someone in Illinois for the Topps company, so I'm sure they were sold to someone and then sold to Bigboyd...."I'm 99.9% sure"
