Sam Banks said:You guys don't think that Randy may be getting too old?
What is he, like 45?
I don't know how well a 45 year old is going to do against the younger guy.
I'll be honest, I'm newer to the MMA game and really am not all that familier with Couture, except his name and highlights.
So I am eager to hear what people think about how they feel the two of these guys will match up in the octagon.
From what I read online, he's similar to Lesnar in the ground and pound, and has some BJJ and other ground game for subs. Which Lesnar lacks.
It will be very interesting to hear what people say, and to see what happens.

Couture is great at controlling his opponents, either by having them on the ground, or in the clinch.

Randy has never been known for dominating in the clinch. He is stricly a ground and pound guy, who has had success on his feet as well. He is a submission specialist, not a muay thai fighter.

Even against Fedor?
Ty Hope said:Sure, but at least Mir, Silva, etc. have more than three fights (one of them a loss).
I watch the UFC because I love mma. As far as the company though, I absolutely hate them and the way they do business. Especially Dana White who is a complete *******.

I have to agree. I think White is doing this just to bank in more money. Lesnar is a good fighter, but he does not deserve a title shot. I think the lack of depth in the heavyweight division also caused this. I think Lesnar should've fought someone like Gabriel Gonzaga, and had he won that, maybe you can make a case.

i have to disagree to an extent. he might be doing this because it will be a big draw but at the same time, Lesnar wouldn't be getting this shot unless Dana thought Lesnar had a good chance of winning it. you can hate him all you want, but if White was only about making money off gates and PPV buys, Kimbo would have been in the UFC from the start. Since Dana actually cares about MMA, there wasn't a chance. josh Barnett doesn't care much for Dana personally but even he will admit that. He put this fight out there because people want to see it and because many people think Lesnar will win. As long as he keeps doing that and keeps being legit with the fights, UFC will continue to be rake in.
Brock Lesnar talks about his upcoming clash with Randy Couture.
On getting the opportunity to face Randy Couture for the title...
"I'm very excited....it's been a good training camp. I'm just ready to do this.
"It's one of these things where I'm honored to even step in the Octagon with Randy...Hopefully, there is a lot of people watching. It's an exciting thing for myself."
On his preparations for the fight...
"We've watched every single one of Randy's fights a number of different times...we've watched a lot of film on him..."
"He has trouble with bigger guys...guys that knew how to control him...Tim sylvia and Gonzaga didn't know how to control him."
"I would have to say that, you know, I'm a huge threat to him. I've got a reach advantage and a power advantage...Randy hasn't knocked anyone out and neither have I...I would have to think he's gonna be scared of these big ol' soup cans that are going to be coming at him."
On what weight he plans on entering the Octagon...
"About 275. Between 75 and 80."
On his training and advantages...
"We're younger. We're stronger. We're faster...this guy is on his way out and we're going to make sure it happens."
"I had to scramble...I lost a couple of guys that had been with my camp...I wasn't expecting to fight this soon...I've got Cole Conrad...Brad Imes in this last week...I brought some Jiu Jitsu guys in...a guy by the name of Brian Kramer...he wrestled Randy before."
On some of Kim Couture's comments...
"I'm glad he's got a supporting wife."
On Randy's comments that he would put Lesnar on his back...
"I hope he does try to take me down...I'm surrounded by great athletes and great wrestlers that can't take me down. Hopefully, in his mind, he comes prepared and if he gets me down, he's gonna have a hell of a time keeping me down...I'm coming to this fight knowing that I'm going to dominate this fight..."
His thoughts on Mazzagatti...
"He failed to do his job that night and we're not going to let that happen again."
"He won't ref any of my fights in the future!"
On walking out when asked about steroids...
"It's one of those things where I've been accused of using steroids my entire life...I've never once have ever given any indication that I use or abuse steroids...I've never failed a drug test...if I were a black guy and looked the way I do, would I get asked this question...I just happen to be a white guy with great genetics..."
On Mir vs. Nogueira...
"To me, it's a toss up I guess...Nogueira's a tough guy...I don't know...for me, I hope Mir wins because I want a rematch against Frank."

You know, I am sick of the Sherdoggers whining and moaning about how much of a bitch they think Brock is because he doesn't want Mazagatti reffing any of his matches. I kind of wish Brock would just drop it too, but the guy has a point.
It was *censor* when Maz deducted the point for strikes to the back of the head. It seems like that guy does that in about every fight he refs. He does it ALL THE TIME from what I have seen. Way more than any other ref. It's not like Lesnar was just sitting there pounding him in the back of the head with wreckless abandon. Mir was moving from side to side underneath him and there was nothing Brock could really do about where the punches landed.
Maz wants to stand them up after the strikes and give a warning, that's fine, and I am sure Brock wouldn't have made such a fuss about it. But the automatic deduction of the point was *censor* in my opinion.
I am getting to the point where I hope Brock damn near ends Randys life with strikes just because I am sick and tired of his mouthy fans on SherDog. Every 3 seconds there's a new thread started about how much Brock sucks on the Heavyweight forum, and it's getting old.
