No one has really said anything bad about Warren, we're just saying that the customer is scum.

The problem was that he paid more than 45 days before the much-delayed release date.

It's no biggie, I just got off the phone with Jason. I'm getting him the card.

Ever hear of the police?

Just because eBay won't help a buyer because of their 45 day rule doesn't make it okay for the seller to get away with flat out robbing this buyer. And we have to remember that the police have far, far more authority than eBay and always will.

So why not have this guy call the police and file a report with them to get his $800 back if he didn't receive the case?

I think we can all agree that Warren is honorable and a good friend but common. That seller just took advantage of you and Jason. First off he did not buy the case from you, then he wants to recoupe the money he lost from his bad deal on Ebay by charging tree fitty. This is the stuff that makes me really pissed off about this hobby. If somebody told me they wanted 350 for a card that is worth no more that 40-50 bucks I would have told them to get bent and NEVER come back into my store. Then buy the card off ebay when it shows up for $50.00

as a former shop owner

I wouldn't tell him never to come back, but I would politely decline to buy the card.

Honestly, the outrage over this is ridiculous. Yes, the guy wants to much for his card, but no one is forcing anyone to pay for it. Wait until it shows up on ebay and aggressively go after it then if you dont like the price, just like anything else. Anyone who buys anything from a card store is massively overpaying 95% of the time anyways, but you do not hear them complaining.

I just talked to him & he is thrilled to be getting it. So happy ending for all parties involved. The whole thing has been a positive experience for me, no regrets whatsoever. Jason's promised me a pic of him holding the card and that, my friends, is priceless.

Happy collecting!

I think it's great what ya did. Glad everything worked out.[/quote:2rymydz0]

Glad he's getting the card. Good job OP. Yeah, in hindsight telling him you knew the guy in the card probally didn't help. But you never know how people will react. Some are giving, other greedy. Sad it went the route it did but that happens. I've been a victim to gouging quite a few times but it was something PC I had to have and rare or 1/1.

I'd buy a 1/1 of me for $350. I'm not rich, just afraid I might not get another chance to own it.

**all of a sudden the Martin 05 BDP Super gets listed on ebay for $10,000 BIN. No Best Offer option.** lol

Ebay now protects ALL buyers for the full purchase price if they pay through paypal. .

o contrare monfriar (sp? lol)

Read the small print. You have exactly 45 days from the date of payment to make a Paypal claim on a deal gone bad. Once 45 days & 1 second have gone by Paypal will not even as much as investigate the claim. This is a fact.

Au contraire, mon frère.

I have nothing else to add to this thread.

It's a done deal, here's a mugshot of my customer dropping it off & a view of both sides of the card:

Jason has volunteered to break any codes I might encounter in the future free of charge. I asked him to help me figure out my wife, but he said no man could do such a thing

I recall reading a post once where people ripped on ebay sellers who jack up prices of cards when they expect players to bid on them (ie Pat Nesheck, etc)

This is the same philosophy
Jack up price of Wong's card

Why should Wong (or this board) cover the fact that the guy got a brutal break and/or was screwed by another ebayer on different case?

I am not attacking you Warren.
I just don't see why members would give money so that a 3rd party who isn't even a member here can walk away with 350 bucks for a card of Wong dude

I would rather help out people like Subpop77, Pujolsthomefan, Wossa, etc

He looks like a savvy and well-rounded businessman.

(and he very well may be... I was just sayin' that if I WERE to judge a book by its cover then that wouldn't be the text for my upper level business classes)

First of all I didn't even ask Warren to do this. If you knew our whole email conversation you would know the whole truth. I told Warren the most I can afford was $125 and I think $350 is ridiculous. I told him sorry I can't do $350 and I guess I won't get my card. If I couldn't get it because his customer is greedy so be it. I'd just be disappointed that I had the chance to get it and it slipped away because of the price. Sorry for the guys $800 loss on ebay but what just because I want a card of me (who will never be on a card again) he has to jack up what he lost?

Warren came right out and said "I don't want you to lose the chance to get a card of the best looking card of yourself". He offered himself to pay the difference (money from his own pocket) and that is mighty nice of a person who I don't even know. And again I did not ask him to do any of this or post anything on this forum. My mission is to get a copy of all my cards and get the 1/1's. Who wouldn't want to get a 1/1 of themselves? You don't know because your not on a card.

By the way, the FCB is blocked on my work computer and I don't get a chance to get on here until I get home from work.

Just because I don't comment on the forum doesn't mean I'm not on here. I don't comment because most people are so negative about stuff and it just upsets me on how card collectors really are. People really don't want my opinion. Card collecting isn't like it was when I was a kid and I'm 32. Of course they didn't have the kind of cards they have in packs now.

Now I know I will get negative responses on this so let it go. Thanks Warren for being a great guy!
