This is garbage. Tell your client to go kick rocks. Can't stand when people try to take advantage of others like that. His break sucked, and no one is responsible for that other than himself for his gamble. No way I would even chip in .05 cents letalone $5 strictly based on principle alone.

I haven't heard that in forever.

My buddy used to say it all the time. I felt it appropriate.

You really shouldn't have mentioned you knew jason...price probably went up 3x when you mentioned that. Should have just said you're interested in buying and if he still puts out a ridiculous price, say you'll have to pass and if it ever goes up on ebay you will try to put in your best offer. I can't see this card going for anything over $150 on ebay and potentially much less. If he wants to be unreasonable, let him sit on it until he realizes he is just being greedy and puts it up for auction on ebay.

Ebay now protects ALL buyers for the full purchase price if they pay through paypal. .

o contrare monfriar (sp? lol)

Read the small print. You have exactly 45 days from the date of payment to make a Paypal claim on a deal gone bad. Once 45 days & 1 second have gone by Paypal will not even as much as investigate the claim. This is a fact.

If you’re buying on ebay, you should know about the 45 days. Why didn’t your friend file in the 45 days? Presell are 1 of the most common scams + why I auto file within the 45 days on any transaction. If your friend regularly buys on ebay, he should know that.

If I were you I wouldn't buy it simply out of principal. Sure it would be nice to have this card in the right person's hands but when someone gets stupid with prices the rules change. There's a reason so many of the thousands of awesome cards Burbank has for sale are still sitting in the same place since the day they listed them.

Nice gesture, but 350 is beyond ridiculous. Even w/crazy a&g collectors (though not many chase the 1/1 set), the card wouldn’t fetch anywhere near $350. if I were you, I’d offer your friend store credit/boxes/etc. + I’d also get him to lower his price to the ballpark of reality.

Btw, why is he out $800 on a case he bought on ebay? Ebay now protects ALL buyers for the full purchase price if they pay through paypal. Just got $510 back b/c a seller stiffed me on a case. Ebay/paypal 100% buyer protection has been around since may/june, so your friend should have no problem getting back his $800- assuming of course he filed a timely claim.

The problem was that he paid more than 45 days before the much-delayed release date.

It's no biggie, I just got off the phone with Jason. I'm getting him the card.

What did it end up costing you? Here are a few points I've come up with since reading the beginning of the thread:

(1) Warren is a good guy, it's not fair to, as he said, "shoot the messenger"

(2) Warren's customer is an *******

(3) At the end of the day, the most effective strategy would have been to call his bluff. As said earlier, ultimately it would've shown up and for a helluva lot less than the $350 he wanted. The case excuse is completely irrelevant to the sale of that card, as his prospective buyers on other items shouldn't have to share his burden.

How is this any different than when we put a HUGE BIN on a card because we know Wossa wants it? We've all done it.

I don't think what it costed me is important, I'm just glad to announce that I've aquired the card (or will in a few hours) & it'll be on its way to Jason in the morning. I just talked to him & he is thrilled to be getting it. So happy ending for all parties involved. The whole thing has been a positive experience for me, no regrets whatsoever. Jason's promised me a pic of him holding the card and that, my friends, is priceless.

Happy collecting!

Cuz doing that is to hope he make a good "best offer". This guys said he wants $350 not $350 or just make a "best offer"..

Some differences

wossa foots the bill himself/doesn’t ask strangers over the ‘net for $

wossa often competes w/other buyers who want the card

the BINs wossa’s hit have become less insane (relatively speaking) over the past yr or so as everyone + their baby mama’s been pimping to him

while people have insane BINs, often wossa offers say 50% and gets the card. this guy seemed to want 350 or oh yes, 350

most of all

wossa bids on cards of guys a decent % of the population have heard of. These cards (supers, reds, etc.) have been highly valued by more than 1 person. 1/1 of some guy who is NOT a pro athlete (or even a poker player)/NOT known to 99.9999% of the population? Not so much.

Anyway, cool gesture + glad jason’s getting the card.
