How is this any different than when we put a HUGE BIN on a card because we know Wossa wants it? We've all done it.

Thanked for making a great point.

Wait. I'm lost.

No one said anything negative about you. We're all happy you got your card/ We just didn't think you, Warren nor anyone else should have had to put up $350 value for it.

But Wassa has the money and pays what he wants to pay. Wassa also pays what he thinks it's worth... he's passed up offers, too. If Wassa were an active member here and consulted before his purchases, I'm sure a few of us would give him the same advice to not pay as much.

Jason doesn't throw money around like it's nothing.
Jason doesn't pursue card after card to establish a trend on what he's willing to pay.
I don't think the two scenarios are comparable, but I know what AKA is getting at:

"Stretch it for what you know he's willing to pay."
-Sure yeah... but, like I said, Wassa isn't a consulting member here. He just throws his money around.

This scenario was more like..
"I know this guy wants this card so let's try to get him to pay for my mistake."
-In this case, an agent of the transaction made the proposal and thoughts were given on it.

Just because I don't comment on the forum doesn't mean I'm not on here. I don't comment because most people are so negative about stuff and it just upsets me on how card collectors really are. People really don't want my opinion. Card collecting isn't like it was when I was a kid and I'm 32. Of course they didn't have the kind of cards they have in packs now.

Now I know I will get negative responses on this so let it go. Thanks Warren for being a great guy!

There weren't any message boards then either. ;)

Jack up price of Wong's card

Why should Wong (or this board) cover the fact that the guy got a brutal break and/or was screwed by another ebayer on different case?

I am not attacking you Warren.
I just don't see why members would give money so that a 3rd party who isn't even a member here can walk away with 350 bucks for a card of Wong dude

I would rather help out people like Subpop77, Pujolsthomefan, Wossa, etc

First of all I didn't even ask Warren to do this. If you knew our whole email conversation you would know the whole truth. I told Warren the most I can afford was $125 and I think $350 is ridiculous. I told him sorry I can't do $350 and I guess I won't get my card. If I couldn't get it because his customer is greedy so be it. I'd just be disappointed that I had the chance to get it and it slipped away because of the price. Sorry for the guys $800 loss on ebay but what just because I want a card of me (who will never be on a card again) he has to jack up what he lost?

Warren came right out and said "I don't want you to lose the chance to get a card of the best looking card of yourself". He offered himself to pay the difference (money from his own pocket) and that is mighty nice of a person who I don't even know. And again I did not ask him to do any of this or post anything on this forum. My mission is to get a copy of all my cards and get the 1/1's. Who wouldn't want to get a 1/1 of themselves? You don't know because your not on a card.

By the way, the FCB is blocked on my work computer and I don't get a chance to get on here until I get home from work.

Never called you out just the guy selling the card. I just think Warren should have said no thanks, ask the guy to leave and then get somebody to buy it off ebay when it shows up there. Where else is somebody going to sell that card that just got suckered out of 800.00 and is in need of cash. I am glad you got your card.

I think you took that all wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong fellow members, but I think we are all 100% in agreement that:

1. It's awesome you're not only on a card, but you have a 1/1 bat card. We are all a little jealous that not only were smart enough to crack it, but you got rewarded in the coolest way possible.
2. Warren is awesome and was coming from a great mindset to do something great for you, and the hobby in general. Good guy, great intentions, great conclusion-you, with your 1/1
3. That guy is an ******* (and looks one one too) I generally don't "judge books by their covers" but dudes who tattoo their hands and walk around in colored tank tops generally are total ********.

He shouldn't have tried to jack you up because that's what he clearly tried to do and I hope that Warren didn't pay 350 to that ******.

Enjoy your card and if anyone is buying a box or two, maybe you should go to Warren's site and buy from him. If people here buy from him instead of other outlets then it'll all be gravy for all involved.

P.S. I sent you your card TTM for an auto with SASE :D Hope you don't mind

The bolded happens a good portion of the time on any purchase made. There are some guys I have dealt with here and at my local shop that are absolutely outstanding and are totally all about helping you out.Its why I love these boards because there really are a lot of guys who have that mentality.Lets all just help each other out and make things easier on ourselves.

But if I had a penny for every time somebody jacked up the price on me just because they knew I'd want something...I'd be rich by now. There are a lot of people who will do it.Some will say its greedy and I agree that it is.But others will say its smart business to maximize your profit when and if you can.Hell...this whole country is run off of that same very principal.

In the end about the only thing you can do is stand your ground, decide what you will pay, and stick to it.I do agree this is a rather rare situation and I do understand its kind of tricky to navigate but I also agree that it should have never even been mentioned that Jason was an acquaintance or that the card was for him.I am starting to realize that if anybody knows you are interested in something...they always figure to get more out of you for it.

And I can't believe you guys would bid up wossa...that's just wrong! ::facepalm::

Jason,

As said by others, there are zero negative associations with yourself or Warren in this instance. I think what it boils down to is folks know that the guy will budge off of the price, given time, because he won't be able to secure a buyer at his asking price. I think the majority of folks feel as if Warren was essentially "taken" for completing this transaction, not that he's a bad person for doing so. His effort was certainly the right thing to do.

This has to go down as the longest post ever made in response to nothing said, all due to poor reading comprehension! This literally had me laughing at the content and how off-base it was :)

I'm glad the card will end up in the right hands in the end, that's the most important part of this card collecting tale.

Wong dude.
My post was not a rip on you
It wasn't YOU I was talking about when I said the guy doesn't even post here. I was talking about the seller that was jacking up the price. I guess that's one code you couldn't crack (kidding) :D
The fact that the guy lost on his other break shouldn't matter at all.
He(the seller) saw you as a target and possibly even the generosity of this board as a potential target as well

Please don't shoot the messenger guys, I agree but it is the only one in the world. Not to defend the price but I can tell you that he is also out $800+ on a case that he pre-bought on Ebay & never got. He's not a bad guy, but he is a businessman.
So tell him to stop breaking cases for profit. He's not a businessman, he's a gambler and and extortionist. Im going to toss in A-Hole also just for good measure.
