The more I look in to these prospects the more I like them. I knew them a little before we got them, but I hadn't seen updated scouting reports.

Ramirez has the potential to be a number 2 or closer if his change doesn't develop. Gillies looks to be a potential lead off man and is pretty much guaranteed to be a bench player if everything doesn't click. I personally really like Aumont and I think he will be the prize of the haul.

I'm so happy to see Dom Brown is still a philly and that is not a knock of Michael Taylor, it really shows how much I like Brown. Drabek is also a big time prospect the pitchers they got back arent shabby. Also, phillies have some promising pitchers at lower levels.

I like the trade. To get Drabek is more than I expected especially after the Phillies said he was offlimits.

I do like Wallace as well, although he does need to trim down. A scout earlier this year said, “He can hit but he throws like a girl. They acquired a DH — I think he might be Jack Cust Jr. with fewer Ks."

I think this was handled piss-poor & executed sloppy by the Phillies when all is said & done. If they weren't going to offer Drabek or Brown earlier in the season then why budge now (especially after you gave up all of those prospects, now you're willing to let go of 1 or both? :? ). I know they came out with one of the best pitchers in the league but the overall amount of talent that they lost in this process (including Lee whom, when he came over to the Phill's, played/produced just as well or better than Doc would have) exceeded what they will be receiving by a longshot.

As far as M.Taylor, if he indeed is headed to the A's then I'm pretty excited (though I would've been alot more excited if he was able to have stayed with the Phillies). In terms of SV, I think there won't be too much of a hit considering Chris Carter's price's are pretty solid; I was even thinking that as a Blue Jay Taylor's SV could be pretty good due to T.Snider's SV being solid throughout his minor league career (though I've noticed the drop since Snider hit the major's, at least from what I saw this season- but everyone outside of the Heyward's & Montero's for the most part took a beating due to the economy). I'm excited for Taylor as he'll probably break spring training with the team, whereas he would've been left in the minor's if he were to have stayed on the Phillies. Since M.Taylor is pretty much PC for me I really like that he'll get to play in the big's & show what he's got asap, & though his power number's will be affected hitting in Oakland, I still see big things coming from him (& who knows, being that Oakland always seems to be rebuilding & if Taylor proves to be the player I expect him to be, he very well could be traded to a big market team like the Sox or Yankees once he's put up All-Star caliber number's... ;) A guy can dream can't he? )

But back to the Phillies, overall I believe this was an awful move (isn't the Doc due for a bigtime injury, seeing as he's been playing for quite some time & has stacked up big-time inning's? :? )....I hope all goes well for you in Philly but I just have a bad feeling about giving up the house for 1 player (I know they got more than Doc, but he was the key ingradient).
Good Luck Philly, Dave. :D

Although Taylor's power numbers in Oakland will go down, his gap power won't. I have seen this guy hit monster shots, so he will still produce.

No solid word so take this as a rumor, one of the minor leaguers may have failed their physical in the M's-Phils trade...

Triunfel in place of the player who failed? I hope it's not Aumont.

According to Jeff it's Aumont.

If it is, I can't imagine they'd substitute Truinfel. Seems they wanted the pitcher to replace Drabek.

That'd kind of F-over the Phillies bad. Trade Drabek, and can't get Aumont back. Yikes.

Regardless, if the Lee deal doesn't go down because of this, I will NOT be pleased.

I totally agree. I have really started to like Aumont. Obviously if he has something wrong with his elbow I like him a lot less.

They might have to get on the phone and look for another team OR PTBNL and make it either Steve Baron or Nick Franklin. Ideally though I think they want a pitcher with a lot of upside back.

I think most Phils fans would rather see it not go down!

Lee will get traded either way. The Phillies don't want both Halladay and Lee's salaries on the books, which is why they were going to trade Lee. They can get more back for him than they can Blanton.

I honestly just see it as Aumont will either get taken out of the trade and replaced with a different upper-tier prospect and probably a mid-tier prospect, or it's nothing major on the MRI and the M's maybe throw in a low-tier prospect.

I mean, the Phillies are still getting the #2 pitcher in the M's organization (Ramirez)

For what it's worth, I hate this trade.

Lee's agent is on record saying that Lee was not opposed to a multiyear deal in Philly. For what that's worth.

However, the Phils could have had Halladay last year for Marson, Taylor, Drabek, and Knapp (if that much). Instead, we threw in more guys to get Mariner's prospects back... I just hate the idea of trading 7 of our guys, and getting a couple of unknown prospects from Seattle. Couldn't we have done something with Seattle that would have made Toronto happy without giving up our guys to them, and not getting any minor leaguers in return? Victorino? Ah well...

And through all this, we still have freaking Kyle Kendrick...

Oh Canada......
Didn't see this posted.... looks like a Philly prospect failed his physical....

"12:38pm: Davidi passes along an AP report that has Phils GM Ruben Amaro Jr. saying he's hopeful the trade can be completed today but talks may go into Thursday. Larry Stone of the Seattle Times doesn't expect the deal to unravel, and is hearing it's not a Mariners prospect who failed a physical."

Just an update ;).

I'm hearing it was likely Michael Taylor that failed. I sure hope they don't swap Brown for Taylor, that's the only way this trade could get any worse.

* The Phillies get Roy Halladay, Phillippe Aumont, Tyson Gillies, Juan Ramirez, and $6MM. The Phillies will give Halladay a three-year extension plus vesting options.
* The Mariners get Cliff Lee.
* The Blue Jays get Kyle Drabek, Brett Wallace, and Travis d'Arnaud.
* The A's get Michael Taylor.

The deal is final. News conferences are being planned as we speak.

I personally don't understand the Phillies' reasoning here, but I also don't see where any club completely screwed themselves.

That's been the deal for two days. What happened to the physical exam failure?
