Wow, that's cool. All I had heard was that even though McGwire wanted to coach, he didn't want to deal with the media attention, so it was unlikely to happen soon. Maybe we'll see Bonds as a coach down the road too.

I know I'll be on pins and needles waiting for these guys to come back to baseball - wait a minute...

McGwire will have to talk about the past steroid allegations, or he will be badgered by the press every time he does an interview. Will he be available for the post game press conferences?

I'm glad to see him getting back into the game.

Then again, watch a Cardinals players do good on offense and someone will bring up steroids.

McGwire was always known for his excellent contact making ability. This is like Adam Dunn being a hitting coach eventually.

He was on a team with Canseco.

Jose Canseco says he and fellow slugger Mark McGwire were never "buddy buddies" as teammates on the Oakland Athletics, but had at least one thing in common that they talked about regularly: Using steroids.

He did some off-season hitting with both Oakland and St. Louis last year. Glad to see him getting a more full time gig.

I want to apologize to FCB. Instead of hitting "quote", I hit "report this post".

Anyway, as for Canseco ... he was HUGE from the beginning cause he was juicing in the Minors. Big Mac was Little Mac for many years or up to 1994 and then he just kept blowing up.

I don't think McGwire juiced his entire career, just most of it.

I hear you in that I would also love to see Tony gwynn as my hitting coach but the reality is that even if Gwynn became a hitting coach it would not be with the Cardinals. I think having McGwire steroids or not as a hitting coach is good and cannot wait till hes there. I mean they cant get Hornsby or Musial so natually Mcgwire would be the next best thing.

the fact is you think he didnt....remember there is alot of skinny guys who took steroids as well, it could of been he just didnt hit the weights hard untill 94, he was with canseco since the beginning so who knows.
