Reynolds to Baltimore

For Hernandez and Mickolio, per MLBblogs.

Not that they gave up a ton but acquiring Reynolds seems all kinds of stupid to me. The Orioles constantly confound me.

He's got a legit shot at 225 Ks against the likes of the AL East staffs.

Re: Reynolds to Baltimore

certainly a big gamble. if he has a year like 2009, for what we gave up, it will be entirely worth it.

but i agree, i don't like the move at all.

Re: Reynolds to Baltimore

If trade is for just Hernandez and Mikolio I love it for O's as they get a starting 3B for spare parts guys...2 guys that really weren't going to be a huge part of the team.

Re: Reynolds to Baltimore

I think it's a good trade if Reynolds can hit for power... I wonder what happens to Josh Bell.

Between the trade and Bell's line last year, seems pretty clear to me.

Don't the O's have an opening at 1B? Wigginton is a free agent and has not re-signed. Reynolds can play 1B/3B or DH.

That's true... Bell is a switch hitter, and Reynolds is a leftie. Camden Yards is attractive to left-handed hitters...

We need an upgrade on SS for a temporary basis (1 or 2 year contract) before Machado comes in.

5 years from now this trade will not even register with the casual baseball fan.Kinda of silly to worry about who wins a trade like this.... I think the only time you should worry is when a team is fleeced. ( Rangers & Braves trade ) Orioles are just under a lot of pressure to do something from a fan standpoint due to the Nationals.

Reynolds is a RH hitter, but Camden yards is still a friendlier home park for a power hitter than Chase Field

I suppose the Orioles will try and land one of the big 1B on the market too and if they get Bartlett or Hardy via trade their lineup could look like this:

2B - Roberts
RF - Markakis
1B - D Lee/Konerko/Pena
DH - Scott
CF - A Jones
C - Wieters
3B - Reynolds
SS - Hardy/Bartlett
LF - Pie/Reimold

Obviously you would switch the order around a bit depending on who the Orioles will get.

If anything, if the Orioles suck again, it will be nice to see some long balls coming from someone not named Luke Scott.

Good move for the O's

Yes he will K 200+ times, but moving from the spacious NL West Parks to the hitter friendly AL East Parks could mean 40+ bombs

Reynolds is a RIGHTY. So Camden Yards doesn't look so attractive now.

Best DSO in History ......... Designated StrikeOuter

Not a bad deal... as Ive seen a few pitchers accidentally hit his bat with the pitch from time to time.
