Trout batted only .306 in the CAL league and XBH also dropped off substantially. The thing I like most about Trout is his speed, the dropoff from low A to High A in batting average was a big drop off. I think Trout will be a solid player, there is no way I would be buying at the current prices though. On the flipside, they may continue to rise until the season starts because of his current prospect status? I honestly think you have to flip these and move on to something else before the season starts though!

keep in mind, he was playing against competition 3-4 years his senior. also, after his 1st month in the cal league, his numbers improved considerably.

july .238/.333/.381
august .330/.394/.420
september .381/.500/.667

i agree his prices are crazy high right now but with the hype he is due to receive in coming months, they will surely go higher.

Also of note, Trout hit over .400 during the Cal League playoffs with 3 HR's (7 total XBH in 11 games). Then, while on Team USA, Trout hit .350 with 3 more HR's (6 total XBH in 9 games).

The playoffs is too small of a sampling...anything can happen. Just sayin, I would make sure I cash in before next season starts at the absolute latest.

My point was that he literally improved every month while in A+. Then to go on Team USA and perform up to the same level against higher level competition, it says a lot about Trout.

Normally I'm a sell guy when I can double my money (which I can with Trout right now), but getting annointed the #1 prospect by MLB.com changes the game. Every year that I've been collecting prospects (back to 2008), the #1 guy - and usually anyone in the top 5 - will see a nice climb in sale prices through the end of March ($100 for BC auto base is not uncommon). After that, anything can happen. But to sell now would be jumping the gun IMO. Let this thing marinate for a month to 6 weeks, then let it rip. He can't get any LESS hype between now and ST, but he can definitely get MORE hype.

Another thing to consider: Let's imagine Trout shows up at ST and all the cameras are on him and whats-his-face-ESPN-guy does a piece on him and he also happens to be hitting some bombs off ST invitees from the nether regions of the minors. All of a sudden, he becomes the can't-miss prospect b/c he has the complete package, INCLUDING "emerging power". Keep in mind, Trout thus far has exhibited similar power to guys like Chipper Jones in the minors, and as someone already pointed out, continues to show marked improvement month to month in contact and power.

We are sitting on the cusp of ST fever. Be patient for just a little bit longer...

***For those of you checking the #s, Chipper Jones had 46 2B/ 13 3B/ 19 HR, ISO of about .180 in his first 750 minor league AB's between A and A+ ball.
Trout has about 500 ABs between A and A+ ball, 28 / 9 / 10, ISO of about .150 so far.
Key point here: Chipper was 19-20 years old, Trout was 18.
Steve Finley on the other hand didn't even touch the minors until he was 22.

Sell. People won't be buying a speedy OFer with 10 HRs a year in 2013.

Who cares about 2013. I only care about March of 2011. As of today, an Elite /149 sold for $75. A 2010 Bowman Platinum sold for $40! We are in January! Prices are not going down between now and April 1st.

You sir, are on top of the game and correct.

I won't be holding until 2013, I can tell you that.

Yeah, didn't he win Cal league post-season MVP as well?

I'm going to hold until the hype train is good and full. Even if that means waiting until next ST.

Mike Trout is a future regular all star.
false.

And how have you come to this determination? Are you a scout? Do you have more knowledge than the multiple scouts who believe Trout will be a future regular all star?

go out and watch him for yourself and come back to me. He is a good player but will never be great and does not have the personality to ever be a fan favorite.

Lol, you really don't know much about baseball apparently. I've seen him play about 8 times, if you factor in ST.

Personality to be a fan favorite? I disagree. I doubt you've ever even talked to him, whereas I have interacted with him for the past six months. If you have talked to him and he put you off for some reason, ever think he just didn't like you?

So tell me what you think he will do in a full MLB season. Haha yea ive talked to him a few times. He is a nice guy never said he wasnt but he is a little shy. We even recorded an interview with him. Its like I insulted someones mother if you dont ride the hype train of Mike Trout, Bryce Harper ect..
