Well, Iowa's Jeff Frazier just crashed the party, with a 2-run jack against Miller.

Report: Cubs' Single-A to Kane County

MILWAUKEE -- In what amounts to excellent timing for Chicago Cubs fans interested in getting an early look at the future, the team is reportedly set to move its Single-A team closer to Chicago starting in 2013.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday that the Cubs will move their affiliate at Peoria in the Midwest League to Kane County, which is the closest Single-A franchise to Chicago.

Kane County is currently affiliated with the Kansas City Royals, but that partnership is set to expire at the end of the season.

Cubs officials had no comment on the potential move and said that all information regarding affiliations will be released after the minor-league seasons end.

As the Cubs start the process of rebuilding the farm system, a number of top prospects are expected to filter through the lower levels of the organization. Highly-regarded Single-A prospect Jorge Soler is currently playing at Peoria, but if his development continues its current track, sources have said he is expected to start next season at Single-A Daytona.

The Cubs are still prepared to send two of their top prospects to the Midwest league next season. Outfielder Albert Almora, the team’s first-round pick in 2012, could be a member of the Cubs’ first team at Kane County next season as could first baseman Dan Vogelbach, a power-hitting first baseman who has been impressive at both Mesa of the Arizona Rookie League and Boise of the short-season Northwest League.

The Kane County franchise, which is located in Geneva, Ill., is approximately two hours closer to Chicago by car than Peoria.
