Martin Perez - 2.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 2 K

Hype and spotty command. Much of the hype on him was based on projection. Being lefthanded, throwing 92 and dominating A ball at 18 years old brought comparisons to Johan Santana. "If he's doing that now, what will he do at 20?" From what I have read, heard and seen, he got knocked around a bit when he got to AA and started nibbling instead of going after batters. Overcompensated and started missing too much inside the strike zone and found out AA batters can hit his stuff if it isn't put in good spots. Some have said he has gone through a growth spurt that has messed a bit with his mechanics. Not a scout but I can't tell much difference in his delivery. From what I've read, the organization thinks he will be ok, just going through a rough stretch. Remember he's only 19 and skipped high A.
