Just read on another forum that mama_bear is officially out of business and that is how they were responding to customers. They werent able to get the product because it didn't fail miserably. They are done selling on ebay, so I'd get in a line and file a claim...

Link?

Yeah, apparently hes telling customers who emailed that hes done and couldn't acquire enough inventory.

Oh well. I'll wait till I receive a direct note from him before submitting my claims. No sense in killing off even a remote chance.

As Mark outlined above, I did receive my case of Bowman Sterling today from Mama_bear**. We had our group break with it over on Topps and it was a blast!

I'm very sorry for all those that did not receive the product and are now going through the painstaking process of getting their money back. I realize I am extremely fortunate in getting the case, and I consider myself extremely lucky. I hope that all of you who are filing claims do get your money back in a timely fashion. I know it's frustrating.

It all boils down to taking a calculated risk. Worst case scenario, I would get my money back through PayPal if he didn't deliver. I took a chance and got lucky-- that's the beginning and end of it!

The bandwagon crashed and burned. Time to claim the insurance (aka chargeback).
Yeah, leaving it open on now the miracle shot you'll eb getting yours is pretty silly at this point. Get your $$$ back, send him a neg and a ****** note for taking you for an interest free loan and move on. Maybe buy a real case from a legitimate business. This guy was clearly an idiot who had no clue how things worked. I don't think the thought ever crossed his mind "Why are my BINS being hit so quickly?" I don't think he grasped the fact of what these cases cost and that even if they tanked he couldnt make a profit.

Plus, in the time that people waited to get phantom cases from this idiot Sterling cases went up significantly.

There was more than $$$ cost involved in this.

For me there was no opportunity cost since I never would have bought Sterling at the regular pre-sale prices of $190-$200 per box (not knowing the spike that would happen) as Sterling generally drops after release. I took a chance on mamabear and whiffed, but I'll get my money back. Got my hopes up for nothing though.

Hi folks!

I'm new to the forum, so "bear" with me....no pun intended ;)

I know the guy fairly well through phone & email over the past months. He is not some phantom scam artist playing a ponzi in my opinion. He is a verified person in PayPal. He has a weekly 1 hour sports talk radio show that I have actually listened to. I have bought many cases of cards from him in the past and they were always delivered as promised.

Yes, most of the time he was paying more than taking in and he was purposely taking a loss. I will not explain his reasoning behind it other than to say he stirred the pot quite a bit, didn't he?

He shared some disputes with me that he received in EBay. There are people out there, who got their product and then had the nerve to tell EBay that when they opened the case there was nothing but cardboard inside. This it totally ridiculous, a lie, and those kind of people should be put behind bars. Mama_Bear never touched the product. It was always drop shipped from numerous different dealers or distributors. If somebody got cardboard, they got it from a reputable dealer, not mama_bear....

For those who bought from him, I hope you understood the risk and fully accept the consequences. If you don't get your product, you get a refund. If you do get your product everything is great. Instead of putting blame on mama_bear, more people need to take responsibility of their own actions and be smart about what they are doing.

That's all I wanted to say for now. Thanks for listening!!

I realized the "risk" from the start and will get my refund.

That said mama_bear is absolutely to blame. When you sell someone an item it's up to you to deliver. It isn't my fault that they couldn't fill an order that they listed.

You'd think with a radio show, he'd just love all this free publicity!

And regardless, if the product was sold under HIS account, and HE accepted money for it, HE is responsible for delivering. It doesn't matter who he got to send it out. If it was a box full of shredded cardboard, HE's the one taking the hit for it. Drop-shipping isn't an excuse. Just because he was SUPPOSEDLY buying up any and all he could find after the sales, doesn't mean he's immune to checking on how legit his sources were.

And if you happen to be a legit poster, thanx for getting involved just after the ship sank. ::facepalm::

Wow, sorry to have posted only to get bashed
I wasn't trying to insult anyone, just explaining my point of view and personal success with him.
I guess I did join the party late, but I just found this forum recently.

Clearly you dislike him & that is fine. You can put all the blame on him that you want and none on yourself. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Some examples of purchases I made with him:
2010/11 SP Game Used Hockey 12-box case
2010 Bowman Sterling Football 8-box case
2010 Bowman Sterling Baseball 8-box case
2010 SPx Football 14-box case

Everything was delivered.
Everything was factory sealed & authentic.
My son & I had a tremendous time ripping them......

Just a Hobby enthusiast who had a great time getting product so cheap.

Regards

Are you the same guy that bought Sterling cases direct from Topps for $720? or was it $540?

Childish how?

You come in here defending him and claim you know him and have dealt with him, and right at the moment when everyone is swooping in on mamabear to collect refunds. Doesn't seem like a coincidence to me. You're here to create a diversion to get some heat off mamabear, much like "baseballcardseller" did earlier in the thread (perhaps albeit unintentionally), but in a different manner.

Nice try.

I also find it odd they made a point to mention a radio show. Also I love the "I know the full story but wont say anything" Thats not suspicious at all.

Dear llwesman,

I know you read the blogs, you can probably find everything you need there considering anything I e-mail privately ends up there. I hope you are not a party to the group that has filed cases against me for items already received that they are claiming had just "Cardboard" in it and not the items they were supposed to have. This is a serious matter and those people are going to have to answer themselves for the false attempt to keep the item and get a refund. All of these cases were sent from some highly reputable people and they are having to answer for why they shipped the "Cardboard" We all know the goods were in the packages, but I will not be able to survive this attack.
At least for them they have succeeded in shutting me down, so they should pat themselves on the back. I suggest you put in a case to recoup your funds.

It is ****** that people are putting in claims on him that all they got was "cardboard' in their boxes. I tend to believe him since he never personally shipped out the cases. I think the only reasonable explanation is that somebody on dealernet knew that this AZ-250 buyer was desperate and the cases he bought actually didn't have the goods in them. This sint really that likely of a story though, and is most likely just more greedy bastards trying to ride the wave of negatives and get something for free.

At this point, its clear he's not a scam artist...just some idiot who took a hundred thousand dollar bet and lost and thought he knew more than the big boys on the sports card market.

He was doing this as a publicity stunt to get a legitimate retail card business going no doubt. Problem is, the guy is clearly an idiot and would have crashed and burned at that too. He saw every BIN he put up as free money and didnt stop until his terrible bet caught up with him. I mean, what product has sold at 60% OF COST 2 weeks after release this year? Not even BC or TC got that low. Factor in fees and this guy was never going to make a dime.

Wonder how much money in the hole he'll come out on this. My bet is that he'll owe $50,000 or more in back fees and money to customers.

We said it weeks ago, nothing good can come of this and supporting it makes it worse for yourself, others and the chief idiot mama_bear.
