Well, I'm about to pull the plug on this and file a claim. I just got this response when I asked for tracking:

"Sorry, been dealing with this funeral, please allow me to get with you tomorrow or Sunday to answer your questions"

Referring to the 2 police officers who were shot and killed in St. Pete a few days ago. For me, it's getting to the point to where I feel that the chances of him delivering on my 2 cases is slim to none-and slim just left town, lol. I think I'm going to tell him either tell me they will for sure be out by tomorrow, or give me a refund.

Here is the thing-the guy is not losing money here. To call it a "scam" may be a bit over the top, who knows. They are assuming prices on stuff will drop, and by that they make their cut. If the prices don't drop, buyers will get the run around until prices eventually drop, or they want a refund. By refunding the buyer, mama_bear is out NOTHING.

This is where the excuses start rolling in. It will be one after another. The time to bail out is now.

I'm not stupid. It still hasn't even been 30 days, but if I don't have something by tomorrow a claim will be filed.

Oh, well then apparently nobody has received any cases, even though he said he has shipped out several.

False. This is only true if he never sends anything. The minute he lives up to his commitment and sends a box he's in the hole....and almost $1400 per it sounds. He didn't make enough on Topps Chrome OR Bowman Chrome to cover that much on that many cases.

AND he still got his interest free loan from you.

Looks like mamabear got his first positive for delivery of Bowman Sterling from buyer "xxgreatdealzxx" today.

The only way this can get better is if he has Metmouse running the shipping department and TheFiveMajors is his UPS man.

This. Thanked.

I doubt GDR is involved past the point of just being a buyer. Im sure he hassled Mama Bear enough to be the first to get the cases. I have no doubt that Mama Bear is going to try to deliver on these. Who knows how hes going to do it without taking a huge hit tho. And when he's taking this huge hit hes going to run out of capital to send cases at some point.

Here's my question....is he still doing way below market presells? Of Sterling? That would be a huge warning sign there. Hes having trouble filling orders but yet hes taking more....you'd be foolish to buy ANYTHING from him at this point.

He hasn't done Sterling in a few days, but he is preselling Topps 2011 Series 1 Jumbo and hobby, of course below market value, as well as some other pre-order products.

A customer of mine told me about this thread, and I have no problem telling you prices I pay directly from Topps. The price per box for 2010 Bowman Sterling is $90 per box or $720 per case. Now keep in mind that I have to buy a certain amount of every Topps and Pannini product that comes out, even if it doesn't sell. If it wasn't for the low prices, and the MSRP, then alot of dealers would not be able to stay in business. I am fortunate enough to own my business and the building my shop is in. Above my shop are apartments that I live in and rent out. So I am fortunate that I do not rely on only selling baseball cards and I have apartments rented out as another form of income.
Keep in mind though that alot of Topps and Pannini items I have to purchase do not sell. Such as Topps Opening Day. Because of my extra income from the apartments I rent out, I am able to sell for less than other dealers to my walk in customers. I also supply some cases to other card stores who are not able to buy from Topps direct. I do not sell on eBay and it is a first come first serve basis for my regular customers or walk in customers.
I am not sure what other sellers are selling their cases of 2010 Bowman Sterling for. I sold out at my cases at $950 by the second day I had received them and $100 per box. I do not buy more from any where else. After my stock is gone it is gone. I do not advertise I do not sell on eBay I just sell to my customer base which seems to be growing by word of mouth. Sorry I can not tell you what city my store is in, or any other info except that I am based in a large East Coast city. If you happen to be walking by an older looking card store that looks more like a Salvation Army swap shop in a busy city stop in. It just might be mine and I would be glad to welcome you!
I hope this helps you in your question about how much 2010 Bowman Sterling cases and boxes sold for when they came out from Topps. Remember though supply and demand dictates prices. So I'd imagine that after most have been opened and the big catch cards have not been pulled from a pack yet then that also drives up the prices as dealers see that certain cards can drive up the price of a box or case if a 1/1 is still out there and no one has pulled it.

Your math is a little off there...

Cases cost more than boxes? And topps hobby direct cases are 4-box cases, distributors' are 8..so you're a distributor?

And there you have it, folks, the ramblings of an alleged liar and frighteningly awful businessman. Nothing in that post makes any sense, my head hurts.

Well I received 8 boxes per case broken down into 2 4 box cases. So one master case had 8 boxes in it but was in two seperate lots of four boxes. I only opened one 8 box case and sold those for $100 per box. I sold the other 8 box cases for $950. I did not break it down into 4 box cases. I made $230 per 8 box case and I see where my math is off. I made $80 for the case that I sold individual boxes. HA! That's what happens when you have a swarm of people who sit and wait for the UPS man and if nothing comes they leave but if the case comes in and it did that day they were ready to lynch me if I didn't hurry up and sell some. Some customers are maniacs over these kind of things and will try to fool you if you do not slow down and take your time. I still came out with $80 on the boxes. I do not know. Bowman Sterling must be the most sought after waited for product every year. I do not even want to think about football.
However it was fun watching them open the boxes and packs and seeing the cards they pulled from the packs in my store. I wish they would have cleaned up after themselves. Once the product was gone, so were the prowling customers waiting for their boxes. I do feel sorry for those who were left out.

I have been selling Topps products for over 40 years now and what I wrote is the honest truth. I could care less if you believe it or not. Just a customer told me about this thread and I thought I would come on and tell you how much a box cost me directly from Topps.
Thanks for reading and enjoy your card collecting!

WOW, so boxes directly from Topps cost you $90 per, yet stores are selling them for $260-$300 per box. If this is true, I would NEVER feel bad for my LCS again. Gilmo, can you comfirm this?

Well, if you put it that way....yeah, sure... why not?

BTW, for those that really think Bowman Sterling costs $90/box from Topps, I got a GREAT DEAL for ya on the Brooklyn Bridge!
