Speaking of Dawson...this is 10/10 quad auto from Leaf with Rose, Garvey and Yount too. This is, now that I have thought about it, one of 3 possible jersey number matches for Dawson. I didn't even notice that when I bid, nor do I really collect jersey number serial matches except Garvey. I would be willing to trade it for the same card, different number if a Dawson fan were so inclined. Of course, it that Dawson collector happened to have 6/10, how poetic that would be! The owner didn't seem to care about preserving the original case though, which I dislike. it's not terrible either, but I just prefer the sealed cases to be pristine when possible.

Got the red to go with the base. Sig and numbering a bit hard to see on this mostly darker background card. Right across the Los Angeles on his jersey would have been a perfect spot to sign.

Heritage boxtopper oversized card, in which seller sent in a thin cardboard standard trading card mailer w/o any added protection. It's got some warping, but no creasing that I can see. Some people are just... Garvey Boxtopper.jpg

Toles /25 and DeLeon /10. A bit hard to see, but 2 different wood tones. Toles 25.jpgs-l1600.jpg

McGriff /25. I probably wouldn't have bought any, as I am assuming it was pricy for the time, but this is a cool set I wish I would have had the chance to buy in wax form. I was off wax and too focused on chasing every new Garvey made at the time.

Garvey made the Living set, so I grabbed 2. Garvey Living set.png
Baker. some of these regular set cards are SP, but I never took the time to learn. I just try to grab them when i can.Baker.jpg.

Not keeping up with these. A whole new flood of new, overpriced prospect bowman cards selling. Apparently every single Dodger prospect is treated like they will make a splash now days. Pfttt! I have a few ramos, this may be the first bowman. Ramos.png
Neal Morrell. These often tend to be beat up. it was cheap too. C Neal Morrell.jpg

The big package of the day. I saw the regular Duke of this card pop up on ebay when the issue was new and I liked the image. I tried to win it, but it went for more than I expected and I never saw another one pop up again. It must have been some sort of SSP. The 1/1 appeared recently and although the gold looks better on the border than silver/platinum in my opinion, I still wanted this card. It went for surprisingly less than expected, so very happy about that. 1/1. Duke Snider.

Dual sided Karros/Mondesi. Both seem to have a decent following, making finding deals on their cards tougher that I would expect. neither are standouts, but both had semi-decent careers. Hard to say if the pen was crap or if the Mondesi faded some. Karros.pngMondesi.png
A nice looking Kemp card. Red, whiter and blue designs for Dodger cards are always a hit. M Kemp.png

Dodger lines drives had these roster sheets in them. i have seen 1974-1983. I am unsure if they go back before 74. I figure I would have seen one by now. Same for newer than 1983. maybe that was the entire run.

I also like stuff seen in the 2nd one. If Garvey was on something like this for another club, I would want it. I know there are some player collectors who feel the same. Those could even be cut up into individual "cards". The Pete Rose website probably has this exact item displayed in their collection. Check it out if you have not yet done so. Extremely impressive collection that goes DEEP into oddball.

Dodgers President Stan Kastan. Not a big fan of non-flats, mainly due to storage space. This was a good deal though. Then I somehow screwed up and paid with local pick-up. The seller altered me to it, asking what arrangements I wanted to make to pick up. My reply was I wanted it shipped. That is when they pointed out that I chose local piuck up. I kind of think it defaulted to that, because I would have never purposefully selected local pick up. Seller went above and beyond and shipped it to me for free, even though I offered to pay for the shipping. My thought on this item, if I ever do get around to trying my hand at customs, would be to cut the bill and use this as a cut signature piece. The hat itself doesn't seem all that special and worth keeping intact, some sort of event swag perhaps? realistically, I will no nothing but stash this on a shelf or in a box though.Kasten.jpg

Well, my computer may have kicked it finally. It is taking forever to load and it’s basically no -functional at the moment. Hopefully a days rest and a restart will help. We were planning to buy a new one, just kept putting it off. Most everything is backed up already in anticipation.

Here is what came in today. Muncy is /50. Garvey is /199. IMG_1587.jpeg

The final mail day of 2023 brings one pretty cool Dodgers item. This lunch box featuring Jackie Robinson is smaller than I expected. I guess I assumed it was lunchbox sized (as in the lunch boxes I had as a kid in the 70s/80s. It’s about half the size, slightly larger than a postcard, as you can see the postcard I got with it is shown adjacent.

Nice to see Garvey making the cut on this 1969 inspired postcard issue. No Koufax is a crime though. Perhaps some BS exclusivity deal? These are selling for pretty big $ given what they are, for whatever reason. I don’t know if they were limited or what, but these days if you hesitate, sometimes you miss your chance all together. Other times, you massively overpay and regret it when they start to flood the market at a fraction of the price.

I jumped just it case it is the former.

I think I will keep this going, but be a little more select aboput what I am showing. No more piles of onscure Dodgers who never did much at all (although I still enjoy those almost as much as stars).

I'll start out with a non-dodger card because he checks off one from the need list.

Kyle Hurt.

This is a cheapo, but there are ink variations in this set and this is a gold ink auto. I even had a little competition for this one.

Riggs Gold.jpg

Gagne for the silver on black auto /50

Gagne 50.jpg

I'll also share this Jimmy Rollins card because it is the first in a Dodger uniform for my collection.

Finally this printing mistake that looks much more impressive in scanned form.
