Ok Grabow I am sorry for not having faith... Nice 1-2-3 inning! Great play by Andy LaRoche too!

I had a feeling Duke was going to come out on top tonight. I didn't expect him to do so without any strikeouts though.

Anyone else watch the game tonight? I thought Jaramillo looked more comfortable at the plate tonight working with Duke. Duke likes to work quick and it seemed like he was getting the ball back to him and setting up quicker. The last few games Zach is standing out on the mound waiting on him so he can throw his next pitch. I hate on baseball tonight all they talk about is Johan this, Johan that and they only thing they say about Duke was He was good pitched 7 innings and gave up 1 run. He has pitched awesome all season and they never give him any recognition!

I was at the Pens game but I just watched the recap on mlb.com and Duke looked awesome again. I am so glad he seems to have regained his control and I agree with what you said about Jaramillo. Zach does like to work fast and it seems Diaz always takes his time returning every pitch.

Duke is now 6-4 with a 2.62 ERA

Duke looked great again today, though I have to admit I was a bit nervous to see Capps and Grabow in for the 8th and 9th. I agree that JJ looks very good behind the plate. I noticed at right after his HR, they had a closeup of him in the dugout, and he was going over charts with Kerrigan for the hitters the next inning. It found it pretty interesting since it was only a minute or two after his first big league HR. I'm curious to see how the staff adapts when Doumit comes back. Ryan has made some big strides in terms of both defense and handling pitchers, but I think it's a big dropoff from what JJ offers defensively.

I think I am going to stop having a "favorite" player from here on out.

Dave Parker - got coked up and fat, left as free agent
Johnny Ray - traded
Tony Pena - traded, but we got Van Slyke, LaValliere, etc.
Barry Bonds - best player of his generation; Bucs extend Van Slyke, precluding them from keeping Bonds
Orlando Merced - traded
Aramis Ramirez - given away for nothing
Brian Giles - traded, but we got Bay and Perez
Oliver Perez - mismanaged, then traded
Jason Bay - traded
Nate McLouth - traded

It gets old, man.

the Pirates beat the Mets 11-6. Ross Ohlendorf pitched 4.1 innings and gives up 5 runs. Gorzelanny, Burnett, Jackson and Chavez close it out only giving up 1 more run.

McCutchen ends the day 2-4 1 rbi 1 walk 3 runs scored and 1 stolen base. what a debut.

who needs Nate McLouth? not me.
