Also I collect all 1999 Matt Holliday cards. I just picked up the 1999 Bowman Chrome Gold Refractor last week. If anyone wants to see it I can post a scan. I am going to send it to Beckett for grading I think.

Only card I haven't ever seen is the 1999 Topps MVP Holliday.

I think it's apparent that there is a big difference between the Pinnacle Certified Base and the Certified Stars subset. The base mirrors are so plain in the background that I'd have to agree that the peel almost adds something. See George's scans where he has some of each. But with the Certified Stars the background has a lot going on with all those stars - I think removing the peel added something to the presentation.

I've been wrestling with the idea of peeling a Totally Certified Platinum Gold that is in my personal player collection. I think the sparkling background of Totally's base is much different than the drab background of Certified's base, and IMO the peel takes away from the Totally's presentation. If it's in my personal player collection - a collection I never plan on gaining from financially - then why not peel if it will look "cooler." Now I just need to grow a pair and do it!

Thanks, and congrats on that Stras hit.

Yeah I started in the 90's collecting with my dad pretty heavily. Most of the sets I am working on were sets we tried to complete back in the 90's.

This was way before ebay and you could literally go 6 months at card shops or card shows between seeing any new material that was hard to hit like the Crusade cards or 1997 Topps Finest gold or gold refractors. I also lived in Oklahoma at the time and not a haven for collectors.

I switched to collecting vintage in the late 90's and still do once PSA came along and I was able to stop buying the altered crap cards from scum bag dealers.

Now that I am older and have more money and can actually find the damn cards its much more fun now putting these sets together. I still dream of having a 1997 Donruss Preferred Precious Metals set and a 1997 UD Game Jersey set as at the time those were very tough to hit and are still priced pretty high.

For Totally Certified I say peel, I have many unpeeled but with the letting on top of dufex it is a bit much.

I peeled mine in case there were bubbles that would degrade the surface:

I love the Totally Certified Platinum Golds because they are the same print run as the Select Certified Mirror Golds of 96 yet lighter on the wallet. I am still hunting down a Griffey one.

Agreed, I need Griffey #136 to finish the set.

A buddy mine managed to track down a Jeter Crusade Prototype. First time I've ever seen one and what a beauty! I wish it was mine though. :(

Best thing I've seen in awhile. See if he can find out what card number it is on back, I'm checklisting the protos.

Hey RustyGreerFan, I noticed you needed a bunch of the parallels of Rusty Greer from 2000 Prism. They have a bunch of them for like a buck a piece over at checkoutmycards.com. You can even make offers on them to get them cheaper. You might be able to knock off like 12 of your wants over there.

Is your buddy a bigger Jeter collector than you are. I couldn't imagine anyone is. You have got to get that beauty in your collection. Price?

I don't think he is a bigger Jeter collector but he does have and collects all his really, really rare cards. Some that I've seen are his 96 Select Certified Mirror Gold x3, Crusades - Green, Purple, Red and the Green Prototype, he even has a Jeter 98 Donruss Signature Preview that are impossible to find. He has many more that would make your jaw drop.
