Is this what I think it is? If so, I'm going to be very happy come Monday. If not, it won't be the first time I fooled myself.

Got it. It's real, and it's spectacular.

Lucky it's as good lookin' as it is. One of the crappiest soft sleeves I've ever received a card in, the hard sleeve had the sticky residue from a previous taping, and he inexplicably scotch taped the hard sleeve to a piece of paper which loosely wrapped the hard sleeve. The card had slid out and the tape was touching the card, but disaster was miraculously averted.

Certainly I'm not complaining, I just find it comical.

I'd scan it, but the original scan on the link above is about as good as mine would be.

Picked these up for $3.25 at my first card show since probably 1998. Needed the McGwire for my set in progress and thought I'd never find it for a fair price. That Griffey might be my favorite pattern from 98 Tek.

This one seller had a TON of great stuff for super cheap, but I felt like I had to hurry and missed a bunch of goodies. I left a Roger Clemens 2003 UD 40-man rainbow for $3 and am regretting it.

see now I'm kicking myself that I couldn't make it out to charlotte and just from the sounds of this that one vendor had better 90s stuff than EVERY vendor at the past two shows from them i went to here in greensboro including the one last week haha

Thanks to txcarr for the hookup on this - needed it!

It had quite a journey. Got returned to sender looking like it had been run over by a truck, but finally ended up with me looking none the worse for wear.

And here's that Mirror Gold. It feels weird to have collected for so long and suddenly a bargain BIN becomes far and away the premier card in my collection.

Wow! What an awesome auto! That's an amazing looking card with that beautiful auto! WOW!

I agree, that Blue auto looks fantastic!
Most of these I ever saw were Black ink like Nosterbor's Juan.
I don't think I ever saw any with that Blue ink, although I haven't spent a lot of time looking.
Beautiful card!

Nice cards. I now include the 98 Topps Tek's as inserts!

So if they are inserts, what were the base cards? Teks patterns are parallels, not inserts. Diffractors are parallel inserts.

Are those parallels?

I own one of these and if it is a parallel, then I need to look for it. I am probably off though.

Sick card BTW!

The Big Book says, "Century Marks represent the first 100 autographs by the 30 short-printed stars and prospects, plus Alex Ochoa. These are designated with a blue holographic foil "Century Marks" logo. Cards of Gonzalez, Jeter, Andruw Jones, Palmeiro, and Alex Rodriguez were available only via mail-in redemption cards."

your guy was not on the checklist.

Gracecollector- I would even consider them parallels, because a parallel is a variation of the base card. What is the base card?

The Diffractor is the parallel.
