I agree with the poster above, the C/L is a huge issue in my mind. Obviously the photos that we see are the hits in the product but how many low level basketball autos are in this? Without knowing this information it sure is hard to committ to a case or even a pack.

I got a reply from Chris Carlin about the checklist.

Still being finalized. Should be up in the next week or so.

So--the product is supposed to release next week---but the checklist will not be finalized for another week or so????? HUH????

TK

Wouldn't be the first time the checklist from an UD product released at the same time as the product.

I'm sure the official list will not be released until the product is live, Upper Deck thrives on the mystery aspect of their products, and when people realize how difficult it will be to pull one of those biggies, and how many breaks are actually really subpar, it'll be too late for the customers anyways cause they've preordered already and the money is in the pocket of the distributors.

I'm gonna wait this one out as well, I really don't trust the Upper Deck hype cause none of their products in the past has ever met up to the expectations, especially with basketball this year. It's been the most disappointing year of basketball cards ever given the amount of hype going into their "final products".

Another random thought that just occured to me.

Doesn't Attyball usually break a large portion of the Exquisite production run every year?

Something like 40-50 cases I think. Wonder if they have enough cash left for this?

Apparently, there are 150 cases going to the phillipines in early October, and you can be sure that's where most of the nba triple logos, tiger autos and jordan rookie patches will be.

Do you work in customs or at UD?

  , I wish I worked at Upper Deck, I could probably get you guys any card you wanted!!!

You can bet if I worked at customs, the Phillipines would not be receiving any cases of exquisite ;)

I just saw this on a different message board written by someone from the philliphines- you know they will get their share, they always do. Besides, that's less than ten percent of the print run.

So then, the "limited" production on this is still more than 4500 boxes?

So then, the "limited" production on this is still more than 4500 boxes?

If you do the math using the base cards as a reference, 42 base cards with 199 of each is equal to about 2800 cases. The numbers work out well with their announced 37 rookie autos with 225 of each, which would fit perfectly with about 2800 cases, and the retro auto patches with a total print run of 450 would equal to about one every 6 cases.

Comparing this product to exquisite football this year, their are a total of 7500 base cards with one per pack, which is equal to 2500 cases.

So this "limited" final release is not as limited as they would like you to think, it's pretty comparable to their other exquisite releases as of late. And I think someone did the math compared to 2008-9 exquisite basketball and found out that there will actually be more base cards produced on this final edition that the 2008-9 version. I checked the 08-09 set and there are a total of 7500 base cards for 08-09, so it appears as of now, the production will be higher for this final "limited" edition- upper deck doesn't even know their own numbers.

So don't listen to UD rhetoric- they are making plenty of this stuff based on the numbers they have provided, and it WILL be diluted out.

That's why I need to see a final checklist before I committ. This may be the most extreme case of all or nothing for an upper deck product EVER. Two grand a case- you are MUCH MUCH overwhelmingly MUCH better off buying singles.
This product may be worse than the previous biggest sink or swim product, Topps Sterling baseball.

I like the Rookie Patch Autos, but they are not Rookie Patch Autos.
They should have put Retro or Throwback on there or What If Rookie Patch Logos.
And I am willing to bet these are all redemptions. They want to rush the product out by October 1st, and what better way to avoid the new licensing agreements than placing redemptions in there. Also, be very careful here, they are offering all of these basketball rookies, but the only one worth pulling is going to be Stephen Curry and Ricky Rubio, the rest are subpar at best. Panini has all the big guys already.

Tell you what, I am a big Exquisite guy. Those are nice cards but at $2,000 min for a 3 box case I won't be buying any.

If the early price predictions are accurate, I will be picking up 2 cases. If prices are a little lower than currently posted, I will pick up another case or two.

For those opening over three cases, do you spend over $50,000 a year on sportscards, or is this going to be your major purchase for the year?

I answered 2 cases, but in response, I do not normally bust any wax product and stick to buying premium singles. I would say that I have probably spent close to that dollar figure in gross terms over the course of the last year, however. The draw of this product is to much for me to pass up. Since I do not regularly bust wax, this will definitely be my major purchase this year.

Unsure, though I'm very sure I won't open a case like I did of the last one. If they had all the RC's and they were patches, then I'd consider it, but base autos of Curry, Rubio, Flynn, Harden, Holliday and a few other decent-good RC's isn't enough. It doesn't look like there will be many Tiger autos in the product, so I wouldn't get your hopes up too much about pulling one. The Tigers and the non-basketball cards MIGHT make up for the loss of value with not having some of the top RC's and the ones they have not being patches, but I doubt it. Normally there would be 99 Blake Griffin patch/autos that would pull about a $1000, then 32 parallels that would get a little more, then some various autographed inserts that would bring hundreds.

If you are only going to crack one thing all year, this is a great one to do.

I've got a follow-up question, for those of you who spend over $50,000 a year on sportscards, do you earn over $50,000 a year with your job?

The perfect recipe for the extreme "all-or-nothing" product.......

Yeah, I'll wait to see the checklist to make a final decision, but they better weed out some of the real duds that were in the last Exquisite and up the number of good-great players. I pulled a Desmond Mason autographed patch, I just saw an Eddy Curry the other day, some other cringe-worthy hits since release.

In this product at this price, even a second year Eric Gordon or Oj mayo, or even derrick rose second year patch auto would be cringe worthy. To tell you the truth, so would Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, or even julius erving patch autos- You could buy all six of those autos patches for close to the price of one box of this final exquisite BK.

It will depend on what else you get in the box. If you get one of those cards in your box and it's the best card in there by far, they yes, dissapointing. Although the 2003-04 retro patch/autos of those guys will garner atleast a small premium, but out of the names they mentioned, only Jordan, Gretzky, and Crosby will probably pay for your box.
