I'm not sure if you are big into shopping, but the Mall of America is popular. They only have the Field of Dreams in terms of card stores there, though. The Field of Dreams isn't even much of cards as memorabilia displays.

The weather is definitely getting better and feels like spring!

What's fun to do there?
Any good sites I need to see?
How's the weather?
Are there any nice card shops?

When will you be here? What to do and see changes depending on the season.

I'm on my out from work, but will give you some answers when I get home.

Do you like museums? Are you stuck in Minne, or will you be able to go to St. Paul, too? (different things to see in different cities) One card shop to see is Three Stars Sportscards. http://www.threestarssportscards.com/ It's not a real big place, but there's so few places to go anymore. The more you can tell us about where you'll be at, and when and how long you'll be there will help us tell you what to do!

I am going from Friday to Sunday. Friday I will have about 2 hours to do what I please, Saturday I will have the whole day, and Sunday I will get from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. probably. I am staying in Minneapolis the whole time.

My girlfriend and I just arrived in the cities today, well not quite the cities but Prior Lake. We are staying a few nights at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. We are spending the day at the MoA tomorrow.

Maybe this'll help. Lets you browse to your tastes. The giant cherry from the spoon bridge at the Walker is not there. It's getting repaired. (I know, that sounds weird, but Minnesotans know what I mean)

Really? That sucks.

Anyway, if you are in Minneapolis, there aren't that many things to see in downtown. I'd recommend the Walker Art Center/Sculpture Garden, the planetarium, the Guthrie Theatre (I'm not sure what is playing right now, but there is a nice view from inside it regardless), and the Warehouse District for night life.

For eats you must go to Hell's Kitchen for breakfast (get the sausage bread, sounds weird, but is so good) it will fill you up for the tourny.

Anyway, that's a snapshot. If you need any more specifics let me know.

If you have time to kill it works, but it's really just a big mall. I'm probably really jaded by it, though.

Mall of America is the worst place to spend any amount of time at. All it really is is a regular mall, jammed full with 1500 specialty stores that you will have no interest in, which in turn, make finding store you really want to go to (that is easily located at any normal mall) a bother to get too.

Skip it!

Canterbury card club is fun if you are into playing poker.

There is also a pretty good card shop located on Penn ave.

You must visit Matt's bar while in Minneapolis. Always wins a bunch of awards every year for best burgers. It's just a hole-in-the-wall bar that's super small and has a super simplistic menu but it has one of the best burgers I've ever had and it's pretty cheap too.

As far as other things go:

Minneapolis Institute of Arts (if it's open, not sure)
Guthrie
Walker Art Center
Downtown public library
Block E
Mall of America

I think thats the first time I've ever seen anyone suggest a public library as a destination hot spot! LOL

It was just re-built a few years ago from the ground up and it's actually pretty popular to at least check out. They paid a world renowned architect a ton of money to design the place so it's got a lot of attention.

The stunning Minneapolis Central Library is conveniently located in downtown Minneapolis between Hennepin Avenue, the city's arts and theater district, and Nicollet Mall, the backbone of the city's business and shopping districts. Designed by world-renowned architect Cesar Pelli, the 353,000-square-foot building features an eye-catching canopy roof that projects over the Hennepin and Nicollet entrances, a combination of transparent and translucent glass with seasonal Minnesota imagery such as water, snow, trees and prairie grass, an 18,560-square-foot "green" roof planted with low-growing, sun- and drought-resistant ground cover and 140,000 square feet of underground parking. Designed to reflect residents' civic pride and deep commitment to education and literacy, Minneapolis Central Library offers nearly 100 percent access to its collection, the center of the third largest per capita public library collection of any major city in America with a collection of more than 3 million items--including books, DVDs, music, government documents and more.

You could also stop by Hubert's, famed meeting place of baseball card geeks from Minnesota and Wisconsin. It has a ton of sports memorabilia all over the place. Almost like a museum unto itself. It's right across the street, south of the Metrodome. Hard to miss.
