Not really.

Still don't understand Thug life being part of the NBA and not the MLB. There are multiple players in the MLB that have done bad things, such as beat their wife, do drugs etc. Same with the NFL and same with the NBA. Its not sport related, its human related. The dots seem to be connecting towards some kind of prejudice to race.

That's hilarious on so many levels, but think what you wish.

Just wondering, how is it hilarious? It just seems like a way to dismiss another persons points without backing up yours.

So how exactly do you expect me to defend such an outrageous allogation. A simple "no I'm not racist" isn't enough to please this group of witch hunters.

Card Magnet, what the **** is your problem. I'm not quite sure how I can respect someones opinion with a signature featuring a 12 year old kid being hit in the head with a baseball, but whatever, your probably 12 yourself.

I'm sorry guys, the only way to clear my name in this scandal is to "love the NBA game." Apparently a love for college basketball, MLB, NFL, college football isn't enough to clear my name of being a supposed racist. Everyone who dislikes the NBA is apparently a racists. Everyone who dislikes rap music is a racist. Everyone who dislikes country music must be a racist (I happen to dislike rap music, am I racist? I happen to dislike nuthugging blue jeans. Am I a racist?)

I'm done being attacked by children.

I guess I never really understood your statement to begin with. You posted a picture of Allen Iverson, which backs up your opinion. I can't say it doesn't, but I can promise that I can post more pictures of guys that doesn't validate your opinion than you could post of guys that do. It's fine to say you don't like basketball or that the game has become too watered down (I think the league could do with 2-4 less teams), but I've never understood the "too hip hop" claim. I don't listen to rap, but I can watch games on ESPN, TNT, ABC etc... and never see anyone dressed like a thug or promoting their cd's. I like basketball, so I don't get how you can discredit the whole league for the actions off the court that players do in all leagues.

I can't believe I was subject to hear two people's "Fav 5 international players" and it doesn't get better: coming up next is Kobe's journey. Token hip hop wannabe Stu Scott is also at the helm of the show and Van Gundy is rattling on about his favorite Kanye song. That was after he started babbling about the pointlessness of bringing a glove to a baseball game. The NBA is trying uncomfortably hard to be cool.

The NBA is too hip hop, so I don't even watch it.

It was my favorite sport up until about 10 years ago, now it's just a comedy show.

The bold just means "I don't want to sound racist, but the NBA is too black for me"

Well it wouldn't sound right if I did come out and say that. Some may get that impression, but MJ was my favorite player, as was Sammy in baseball. I'm just not a fan of overpaid 18 year olds sporting gold chains and nice grills who try to act like rappers. Give me some scrappy veterans like Malone, Stockton, David Robinson, MJ, Magic, Isiah, Bird, etc.

Fair enough. I guess I didn't notice the gold chains since I'm pretty sure they don't wear them while playing and are forced to wear suits when going to or leaving a game. I'm not sure what you mean by "acting like rappers."

Whatever, it's clear that you just want to argue. I'm entitled to my opinion, and it makes me happy.[/quote:1uhd4lkd]

You certainly are. I'm not saying you can't at all. I just don't get it and usually hearing stuff like "it's to hip hop" usually just means "too black" since I don't see how something is too hip hop when they wear team uniforms and suits. Dwight Howard had to leave the bench when he was sitting out a game and was wearing a shirt, tie, and sweater vest.[/quote:1uhd4lkd]

There are cameras on the players outside of the game...

What a great way to market the league.[/quote:1uhd4lkd]

You can look across any league and find bad apples, bad use of Judgement. MLB/NFL/NBA/NHL its all there, these people are human too. The argument about gold chains is pretty funny, considering a lot of MLB players have chains on while they play. You also mentioned age, and these young kids with lots of money, Prospect's are subject to this too(see Matt Bush).[/quote:1uhd4lkd]

I wish people would learn how to connect the dots and use rational logic. I find it humorous that people are coming to the conclusion that I am "anti-gold chains." I am anti the thug culture that is what the NBA is today. Sorry, just how I feel. That's why I watch baseball.

The age argument is actually quite valid. The NBA does NOT have a minor league system. The MLB does. In order for a player to reach the bigs, they must perform, not just in a draft workout. In the NBA, you just have to be drafted in the first round I believe and your guaranteed a roster spot.[/quote:1uhd4lkd]

I guess if you say something bad about some people, and they happen to be black it's racist. :?[/quote:1uhd4lkd]

Young kids, with their grills, gold chains, thug life attitudes and posting a picture of Allen Iverson led me to believe their was some sort of prejudice. Pretty sure he wasn't referring to the Luke Walton's or Matt Harpings of the league.

Also his argument off of one or two guys is pretty hilarious in itself. It would be like me saying: "Because a lot of MLB players got caught with crack, all of them do crack." Because 1-2 guys(I am not denying Iverson portrays a Gangster style of living) decide to act that way the entire NBA does.

Bballkid- your argument likely wouldn't have caused a stir, if you didn't stereotype the entire league based off of your perception of a few players.

usually threads are moved to the correct board pretty quickly, especially when the topic is directly related to another forum. it baffles me that mods in the razor thread want to stop arguments and such, yet leave this open.

to clarify for you, I think if you had said something about the game itself that you disliked, not things about the player's personally you dislike, it might have deflected some of the criticsm. But, as much as we constantly disagree, you're right: whatever reasons you have for disliking the NBA, they're yours.

Also, people think they find a racist thought/phrase/theory, and it's blood in the water.

 22 actually. And I'm not the only one with the exact same pic, some older than me.

Just meant people throw the race card out there too easy.

How can I respect somebody who acts like you do when somebody disagrees or remarks on your comments? Take the thorn out of your rear.

All the disagreements would have been avoided if the thread was moved. The problem is people are complaining about the NBA without knowing anything about it. This leads to stereotyping, and when called out on it then people get defensive and fights start.
