It's all about how each participant feels about how much they can give up in return. If you know you don't have much to offer, then don't try to talk yourself into believing it's an ok replacement. Just be honest and let it pass on to someone else who wants it. If you want the card - claim it.

Agreed.

My only comment on this and how the first person claimed the card is the attitude of giving away what basically is an unwanted card. By saying everything else i own is PC, well, that in itself should say something. The OP is giving away a card most people would happily put in their PC while the person who claimed it is putting up a card they didnt really want.

Anyway, the thread will be full of what makes this site awesome and in some cases, not so much...

well i guess people are pissy about a free hof cert and want better so i guess im giving up the aaron to the other guy total bs if you ask me but o well

You want BS? Go back and look at how you claimed the Aaron 28 minutes after me, and then sat idly by and let me concede the card that I clearly claimed first.

But it's done. Someone claimed your Doerr so let's keep it going

Nice idea of a thread! Unfortunately, many folks only think “money” when they look at cards.
Personally, I like the Doerr card better than the Aaron. While the Aaron is nicely done, the “24-time All-Stare” comment on the back magnifies the fact that it’s home-made and didn’t come from a pack (like the Doerr).
I’ll keep an eye on the thread to see how it goes. Hopefully it stays civil and I’ll jump in.

Would it be okay if I offer a football option as well as a baseball if I claim a card? Or does everyone want to stick with one card to keep it simple?

On the actual giveaway thread is there any way for the moderators to edit out the posts not related to I'll take it and the posting of new cards?? Would definately help keep the thread on point.

Okay, who is the moderator who deleted my comment in the Pay-It-Forward thread? If people are going to rip me for pointing out the unfairness of claiming a Hank Aaron cut autograph framed in a great looking color border and putting up a Bobby Doerr sticker auto that sells for $5 on eBay, then this isn't FCB. I planned to participate in this thread and have given away cards on FCB on multiple occasions, so I'm not trying to start trouble. I will not participate if it's going to be a round about means of collectors trading a $5 cards for $75 cards.

Well, that thread will run its course when someone claims the $5 card and puts up a $0.05 card. This is a great gesture, but it's also a test run for something I - personally - would love to see happen more often.

That is not the place for the discussion. This is the place. Post here NOT there. By the way, it is already old man, just drop it, it will get worked out. Participate or don't it is up to you. But stop screwing up that other thread already. And posting your FCB resume is just stupid. We have all given cards away.

Here is what I posted in response to your post in the other thread - since it's for discussion, it really does belong here.

Here's the deal dude, the OP said take the card and just post something else up for someone else to take. He didn't say make it equal value. It's HIS idea. If you don't like the concept, don't participate. If you have a problem with taking a $3 card and putting in a $50 card or vice versa, don't participate. OR - here's an idea - start your own thread with YOUR rules! Not for nothing, I see where you are coming from, but it's the OPs call. I posted the same thing as you earlier on about reasonable items, but it's not my call. So I'm not going to ruin the dudes thread.

Then don't participate. It's your choice.

My comments in the other thread have all been edited down by ME because it's the wrong place for it, and I do apologize to the group who is participating at this time in the post the card thread. There - that wasn't so hard!

I edited because I asked for it to stop. If i hadnt had walked away from my office, i would have edited more.

Also, please dont use the "I thought this was Freedom" BS because its old and tired. There is a thread to voice your issues, that one wasnt the right thread.

Well Bill, I'll drop it after making one last point. The OP went to a ton of trouble to do something he hoped would be a fantastic way to build goodwill and giving on the boards. I'm actually defending the idea of this tread. "Pay It Forward" implies that when someone does you a good turn, you'll do something roughly as good or better for the next person. Taking a $50 card and giving someone else a $5 card isn't "paying it forward." Also, you are wrong in saying that the value on what you give doesn't matter on the Pay It Forward thread:

About a month ago, I went to Mike (200lbhockeyplayer) with an idea to create a custom from a HOF cut that I had for some time. I asked if he could donate his time and skill towards a project that I wanted to do for the board and he so generously accepted. Today, his creation marks the beginning of the FCB Pay- It- Forward Thread. The following card is FREE to whoever wants it. Simply say I'll take it in the thread. All I ask is that you repay the favor and post something for another member to take. Please keep the spirit of the thread in mind and let’s work to give more than receive all year round. Keep it going!

Whatever you think someone will want.

One suggestion I can make: maybe have a fellow FCB collector in mind when it's your tun to take-and-replace. You all know I'll probably only ask for a Gallardo or Yount card; so I'll try my hardest to send out a card that a I know a fellow FCB'er would at least want. However, I might be tempted to take a lesser item just get in on the giving, so maybe everything I just said is pointless.
