Remember me? It's been a while...

Back in early April, an artist by the name of Craig Mahoney started to work on this project of mine.

The main picture on the canvas shows Phil Hughes delivering a pitch, and to the left, you can see him kneeling on the mound (which is a pre-game ritual of his). It took a while, but he really put his time and effort into it, and it shows in the finished product. It came out great.

That is an awesome piece. I'd rather have that than a Picasso (because most of his stuff looks like a ten year old painted it). Yet the Hughes is probably worth $200 or so, while a Picasso is $20 million

Same could be said for autographs of dead people. Since they cant sign anymore... they are worth more... if the artist is still alive they can paint more things... once he dies he cant thus making his paintings were more.

It cost me $250..but let's just say...he cut me a deal.

Art is indeed in the eye of the beholder and the OP's painting is very awesome. I'd love something like that! But this is statement is :| Painting a realistic depiction of a baseball player is in no way the same league artistically as founding and successfully painting one of the most important art movements of the last 200 years.

Good job though OP, that is one hell of a piece to hang!

The format was designed by me. I took a photo from the 2008 season and merged it with a photo of Hughes kneeling on the mound. I asked the artist to remove the "final season" Yankees patch on his left sleeve, so it wouldn't be of a particular season. It was a photoshop job done by me, and the artist went with it.

If you look at one of the photos I included in the original post, you can see the photoshopped piece of paper (that he used for reference) that I came up with. I really couldn't ask for a better outcome. No complaints.
