who will always take up the counter-point just because.

Yup. And there are always members who feel they need to point such things out as if someone can't possibly have a differing opinion.

To each his own.

People keep saying the companies need to do something to stop this, and they have some great ideas... taking pictures of each card and maintaining a database, or putting the picture on the card... these are time consuming and will probably never happen. BUT, check this out... in 2002 Topps came up with this great idea, and it was used only (I believe) so that you could see the jersey on the front of the card and the back of the card:

For those of you who aren't familiar with the set, it has a clear plastic layer over the jersey. You will never see one of these faked, because there's no way to get to the jersey. Unless that thing about splitting a card in half and gluing it back together is true ( ).

It's a little strange the way they had the solution 8 years ago, but as far as I know only used it for this one set. The 206 type GU cards have a little plastic around the jersey, but you can still touch the jersey... so I know they CAN make the patches tamper proof with the plastic, but... why don't they? ::scratches head::

atleast the guy realized the people who were commenting knew what they were talking about

just another example in the hobby that grading can be a joke.

I would be curios to see what beckett would say if he submitted them to beckett

The patch on this fake isn't even from the nameplate as indicated on the card ::facepalm:: I have a 1/1 auto from this set as well and the nameplate patch looks like a plain nameplate patch from Bo's jersey.

I remember this set and I remember collectors throwing a HISSY FIT because they couldn't "feel the jersey" :? :? :?

So the answer to your question is that it was stopped because collectors like to ****** their GU cards.

I wish they could do something legal, i.e. put there ass in jail, to the known people selling these fake patches.

I haven't made my way through this entire thread yet, so perhaps this has been raised. I don't really know much about patch faking, or how to spot one. I don't have any crazy patches in my collection, so I'm not really concerned about it from that point of view. What does strike me, however, is that several of these patches don't even appear to be from jerseys. The Schilling Red Sox patch is a good example. Did the Red Sox ever wear that on a jersey?

Also, I have to say that I was happy to not see any Will Clark cards in his collection. It would have made it even more depressing to see a nice Clark destroyed by a faker...

Which was purchased on eBay.

Adam I think it's a different one. I think the Sheets he has says prime or sleeve or something on the front. It was #'ed /9 I do know that. What's that one numbered out of?

Doesn't matter what the numbering is with DLP cards.

There are tons of 2004 & 2005 Tools of the Trade plain jumbo swatches that are /5.

There are also plain small swatch bat and jersey cards that are 1/1s.

Additionally, a lot of the ones he has that say PRIME are still fakes.
