Seeing the checklist, it's notable that even the lowest end cards aren't terrible. Sterling, UD Black, Exquisite, etc. can all produce returns that are as bad or worse, but the 'bad' cards aren't nearly as cool as the stuff you can pull from Retro. Autos of no name rookies/plain gu of marginal stars vs. david wright psa 10 bowman rc? Give me the latter every single time.

In any product, you're likely to take it in the shorts to the tune of 50% or more. With Retro however, I'm far more likely to want to keep whatever I pull as a PC card, even if it's worth far less than the $225 I paid for the pack.

Maxpower, I agree with you completely. The chance of me pulling something I would love to keep is pretty good in this product, where as in the average box... not so much. And if I do want to move a card from rookie retro, they are all well-known cards that have established values and demand (for the most part). Most cards from here will be very easy to move.

Looks like an awesome awesome product, might have to snag a box even though I don't do high-end. Just a quick question for the masses here, would anyone be interested in sport specific versions of this? Like Rookie Retro Series 2 - Baseball Edition, etc. I only collect baseball, so it'd be a huge draw to me. And since all cards are bought then packed in it's not like it'd be that hard to separate them. Thoughts?

Brian Gray, thank you for trying something new and bringing some excitement to the hobby. I look forward to seeing the breaks of this stuff....

You misspelled Joe Morgan's name :D.

Seeing as how Morgan gets nearly everything wrong in his broadcasts, I'd say he and Brian are even.

I'd be curious, if someone had the time of course, to see the percentage of hits out of the entire production run that a consumer would break even on or do better. Of course the quantities of all different cards would have to be known. This product is tempting for even me to bust, and I'm about as anti-wax as you'll find.

Great looking checklist. After Andrew does his break I'm betting everyone will get a better idea of what % of return average cases get. I'll assume since he's breaking 4, at least 1 will be "average". I'm looking forward to my spots in the break and hopefully breaking more.

BG...how much of this is heading up to Canada (case wise if you know)?

I know it'll sellout in no time.

On the vintage and I am nitpicking. Some of the grades are pretty weak for the years as its not hard to find better copies of those cards. I mean for a product like this I think there should have been at least a PSA 6 or 7 copy of Ernie Banks RC. A PSA 5 Kiner RC kinda stinks as well.

Also any 70's HOF RC in a PSA 7 is also pretty weak as there are plenty of 8's out there.

I would have been very stoked to see some very high grade vintage RC's mixed in with the newer RC's but it is what it is.

Yes, but for $50-80 hits isnt it nice to have some moderate vintage stuff instead of just super shiny prospect stuff?

Example: 1948 Kiner PSA 5 or 2007 Bowman Sterling David Price Auto???

We built even the low end to please a wide variety of collectors.

Brian,

Can we get a preview of some of the players that will be included in the additional autos?

Very nice list. As someone who is a huge slab head, I love this list!

Here are the only cards that I am surprised aren’t available:

Baseball:

Mattingly Donruss
Biggio Score Glossy
Chipper DS
Sabathia TT Auto
Vlad & Andruw BB Refs

Hoops:Jerry West

All “Tall Boys” (but I can understand due to possible packaging issues); Exquisite of any year

Hockey:

Orr; Bossy OPC; Cup RCs of: Ovechkin, Towes, Stamkos

Football: Namath (Tall Boy as well)
