Damn im sorry Sox fans that sucks. But its not like they would have done anything in the playoffs with that pitching staff..
I wish there were more [strike:uu8lgkk5]Rays/Yankee[/strike:uu8lgkk5] baseball fans like you

They probably wouldn't have got very far with their pitching staff, but hey....crazier things have happened. Unfortunately none of those crazy things happened in our favor this year. It's just frustrating for me because I have watched almost every single one of their games this season, and knew what kind of potential they could have had in the playoffs (of course, with a healthy lineup)...always next year I suppose. :?
So, will there be wholesale changes with Paps, Ortiz, Francona? Starters should be fine.

The Rays are my #2 team, so I'm very happy they pulled it off. I know the Red Sox fans are upset. Then again, you've won 2 World Series in the last few years and I'm a Cubs fan, so my sympathy isn't too great.

Are the Red Sox going to resign Papelbon?
No chance.

EDIT: No to Varitek, Drew, and Scutaro as well.
EDIT #2: I think Varitek will stay with the organization but not as a player.

Ladies and gents, we have witnessed the biggest choke in the history of baseball brought to us by the red sox.

Moments earlier, we witnessed another historic collapse (though not nearly ad shocking) by the braves.

Technically, their whole season was up and down. When I think choke, I think total domination then failure. Wasn't that long ago that a team was up 3- 0 in the WS before losing 4 straight.

In the World Series? I remember the '04 ALCS, but not the World Series...

In any case, that was a crazy night; hopefully it won't come back to haunt the Phillies and/or the Yankees.

I feel sorry for the Red Sox fans, I really do; it would have been nice to see them in the playoffs, but the Rays are just as deserving, especially tonight!!

You got me, frenchie. I'm on my phone and was trying so hard to avoid autocorrect that I made a bigger snafu.

I can't believe what I just saw.

I really hate it for Sox fans. I feel bad for you guys. Even though you fans might not believe me, I do feel bad. Its never easy to have to endure that. With a healthy rotation next year, I have no doubt that Boston will contend for the AL East crown. Keep your heads up. You atleast made it exciting til the very last strike. I can't ever remember games going right down to the wire like they did tnoight.

Congrats to the Rays for sneaking in. Good luck in the playoffs.

I wouldnt be soo certain about paps though. Who else is out there? Bard is clearly not ready for that role and dont even think about Jenks. hahaha
I agree w/ the other changes though.
I'm just really hoping Tito doesn't go.

Who should be the number one target for the Red Sox this offseason?

Robert Andino.

Reyes

Andino killed the Red Sox three times over the last 10 games of the season.

Andino is the reason the Sox aren't in the playoffs.

I think there are many factors that can be attributed to the Sox not being in. Not just Andino. Come on man, don't rub the salt in the wounds. Remember, we had to endure the BIGGEST choke in sports history.

[quote="Liberate Baltimore":30a6i0ca]Dear Boston Red Sox,

Hope you enjoyed your monumental collapse at the hand of the Baltimore Orioles. May you and your bandwagon fans enjoy the off-season.

Love,

The Baltimore Orioles

At the end of the day, the lowly Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox played the EXACT same games this season....and that makes me feel wonderful. Robert Andino sends his love. Wasn't it Papelbon who said last night that "the weak fall by the way side"? Classic. All is right with the baseball world tonight.

sure andino played a part in it and normally he would for sure be up there with bucky dent, steve bartman, buckner and legends alike. but the fact is the reason the sox are not in the playoffs and andino isnt one of those guys is because simply the sox sucked dick all month and the pitching was an absolute disaster from top to bottom with the only person on the whole team pitching decently being aceves. if that had not been the case, then adino would be the next buckner etc, but he will not be.
