I think it could be "The Curse of Adrian Gonzalez"

This is the second year in a row that Adrian's team choked and missed the playoffs.

to be honest, unless there are some major revisions this offseason to the pitching staff and the middle-end of the batting order, this team will not make the playoffs for years to come. call me crazy blanning, like you did when i said they would not make it this year, but it is the damn truth.
the sox rotation and bullpen are both disasters and there is no looking up. aside from the top 4 batters in the lineup, the sox batting order isnt all that scary either. with automatic outs in scutaro, salty, crawford, lowrie etc, it is only a slightly better lineup than they had in 10 (which they didnt make the playoffs). the rotation is worse this year as well aside from beckett coming back strong the first half and fallling flat on his face the past month or so.

this team will finish 4th in the al east next year if no changes are made behind the rays yanks and jays. i could see the orioles finishing a few games behind them and the next year overtaking them for 4th.

neither of those teams were really playoff teams. i think it should be the opposite or something in that somehow teams he is on overachieve (as these teams should never have been in the position to choke)

...Wasn't it Papelbon who said last night that "the weak fall by the way side"? Classic...
Yep, he was quite prophetic with that little gem.

And Valverde's day is coming too with all of his antics. Probably when it matters most.

How many Red Sox fans will make claims Yankees threw the game to the Rays?

they did

who cares though
the sox dont deserve to be in the playoffs

the more i think about it, the less i feel this is a choke, as the sox should not have been doing so well for o long, they overacheived most of the year

Quite ironic that the [strike:1pm7h5a5]Rays won[/strike:1pm7h5a5] Yankees lost their game less than 10 minutes after the Sox lost theirs.....

Are the Red Sox going to resign Papelbon?
No chance.

EDIT: No to Varitek, Drew, and Scutaro as well.
EDIT #2: I think Varitek will stay with the organization but not as a player.

I wouldnt be soo certain about paps though. Who else is out there? Bard is clearly not ready for that role and dont even think about Jenks. hahaha
I agree w/ the other changes though.
I'm just really hoping Tito doesn't go.
I'd be nice if they didn't have a set closer, and just pitched whoever was ready to go and didn't pitch 9 games in a row to up their save count, sadly that is not how baseball works. But if we have to have a closer I sure wouldn't mind seeing Morales in that role, he's definitely matured as a pitcher since joining the Sox. Will be interesting to see if Jenks has a bounceback year though, be nice to see him earn his contract.

I believe the Yankees thought the Red Sox were going to win the game so they let the Rays back in it, then the Orioles came back and won. If the Yankees knew that, I think they would have tried to win it.

This situation is why I HATE hearing "Don't worry, it's early" when your team blows an April or May game that they had in hand and let slip away.

And it's exactly why that 0-8 start for the Sox mattered.

Adrian Gonzalez already explained why they choked. It was God. Not them.

Its not so much the start as it was the 7-20 September.

To be fair, if they had won he probably would have said it was God. Not them.

It actually was "ironic", they should have lost much earlier. They ran out of pitchers and just kept sending the same guy out there. I was waiting for an infielder to come in and pitch, but nope, they just kept sending Proctor out there. He held his own out there for quite a while, got himself out of a couple jams. I thought "that's it, it's over" in like every extra inning.

Also, I think you abused the word ironic. Is there a quarter jar for that around here?
