Well, I went ahead and did it. What to lose? I offered $35 + a sad story about a wedding and a broke 24 collector and a link to the museum. Who knows, maybe he'll send it on over as a wedding present.

I was looking at the museum, and there is this card I used to yearn for. I wanted it soooo bad! I was looking at a picture, and my desire for the card came rushing back.

2004 D Classics Classic Combos Quad D.Mattingly 11 #24/25

Schprrrroingggg

I have #01/25 & #16/25, they're really nice, but they just don't cut it. There are 6 cards in the subset, and I have 5 of them...

Now if THAT card popped up in this situation, I'd do some serious persuing...

Slowly but surely I'm updating the list Brad sent me. I was interested in print runs for any card that isn't numbered. Anyone know where I can find that info? Mainly Topps/Fleer/Score Tiffany, Marlins/Rockie embossed, 84 Nestle? I know there are other SP as well. Beckett used to have the info, but I haven't looked at their site forever and has been difficult to find certain stuff for awhile.

1986 Topps Tiffany /5000
1988 Score Glossy /5000
1989 Bowman Tiffany /6000
1990 Bowman Tiffany /3000
1990 Topps Tiffany /15000
1993 Finest Jumbos /1500
1993 Stadium Club First Day Issue /2000
1993 Topps Marlins/Rockies /10000
1994 Pinnacle Artist's Proof /1000
1994 Pinnacle Museum Collection /6500
1994 Stadium Club First Day Issue /2000
1994 Stadium Club Members Only Parallel /5000

93 Finest Refractor are SP too aren't they? I'll look more later. Off to work.

Yeah, this was definitely not an exhaustive list. I believe the 1993 Refractors were SP to 241.

So, I sold a bunch of Rickey's to a fellow collector, and this is how they arrived...

Has anyone ever seen anything like this?? Any insight you could provide Larry?
It looks like it was either shot with a BB gun or stabbed with a spear! I had actually packaged the cards really well, and had no doubt they would arrive safely, so was pretty shocked when I saw the picks.

They punched a hole through a thick photo mailer, an inner piece of cardboard, and the Toploader. Since this was obviously the post offices fault, is there any chance of being compensated without insurance?

Wow, that's an interesting one. Reimbursement without insurance? Good luck. I'm not saying you can't try, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Especially with baseball cards being a subjective price rather than a fixed one. In other words, if you don't have a receipt for an exact replacement, you're not going to go far. Sorry.

About the hole though, that is a good one. Looks like another parcel fell on top of this one and had something poking out of it. The odds of that happening again are huge. I am thinking a once in a lifetime thing. Not the Post Office damaging something, but that exact way. I can't apologize enough for the problem, and it is things like this that make me hang my head in shame as to how we could do this type of thing. Sorry.

Do you carry Larry? My mom does and will retire in 2 years. My dad retired from Maintenance and my brother in law is a carrier sup. I worked at the Post Office in high school for Christmas help.

So who just picked up 84 O'Connell for under $3?

Declined!

Actually, I saw that coming.

Poor Larry. Every time the PO messes up I'm like "WTF LARRY!?!? *&@+*^#@$^)@!!!!"

I have a section of my family that are lifelong PO workers myself. In Nebraska.

Nice steal Brian! That one is way up on my wantlist, but......

No, I am not a carrier. I am a carrier supervisor, and hate my job. Carriers are the face of the Postal Service, and as a supervisor, we are required to beat down on them or else get beat ourselves. I am not a believer in motivation through discipline. I can get more work from employees by treating them with respect and dignity than with a letter of warning. I used to be a supervisor, distribution operations at a plant, but I got the golden boot, also known as RIF (reduction in force) and was forced to find employment elsewhere. I enjoy the people I work with, just not the ones I work for.

Didn't know if anyone still needed one, but I have duplicates of the 2011 Topps Leather Nameplate and Series One Topps 60 GU Bat Version if anyone's interested in trading.

So I've been reading other threads and wondered what was meant by RIP? People have been saying RIP that card. What does that mean? I'm not up to date on this hip lingo all the young whippersnappers are using these days.

In this instance, they literally mean rip the card, lol! There's a "rip card" insert in A&G where there's a mini inserted inside another card, that you have to rip in half to get to. The dilemma is do you keep the outer card intact, or rip it and take a chance at what's inside.

I think it's very stupid personally. Although you can be very careful in removing the inner card so the outer card gets less destroyed. Still, either you keep the card mint and never know what's inside or you destroy it.

CC has had a couple over the years, but I've never ponied up. I could afford the ruined ones, but the unopened rip cards demand a very pretty penny. Be thankful Rickey doesn't get one every year. I can't imagine how much one would go for!

Yeah, that seems pretty stupid to me. Instead of the "rip" they should be a redemption or something where you send the card in to get a "mystery" card of said player or something.

So did they do an O'Connell & Son 8x10 each year? I thought there was only 84? I missed out on both of these and don't have the money anyway, but I did save the pictures.
