If your theory is he sold all the good patches to Donruss, I have a large collection of Donruss Rickey patches to back your theory up!

Anybody else notice that in your collections? Most of the patches seem to be from Donruss?

Donruss/Playoff are where my patches are. Only Topps (patch) I have is Chrome King of Kings I think.

I've got some pretty nice patches from 2009 Triple Threads. I think they used all that they had left, as 2010 TTT was nothing but single color swatches.

What do you guys think of this beauty?

It's a lot cooler than CC's, his said "Big Slim" which I didn't even know was a nick name for him. I thought it sold for way too much, having trouble remembering but I think it was ~$40. So Rickey's would totally be worth $750!

Don't be one of "those" guys, lol. I'll get you pics this weekend. I do have some "tablecloth money" for you Ryan :)

Ah yeah, I got your email. I was exquisitely drunk & in Vegas when I got it. I hope I didn't write back. I meant to later though!

I can't believe you don't already have pics of the TTT patches in your bucket. I thought I was the only slacker like that.

I wish you had e-mailed me, I could have used it for blackmail ;)

I did have a couple in my bucket, just didn't have time to track them down:

Nothing special, but the middle swatch is a patch in both cards, which is definitely better than the single color jerseys that were in all of the 2010 TTT's, even the 1:1's! I also have a #/36 with a green/yellow patch, just can't find the scan anywhere.

Nice! I'll have to check mine out, I'm not sure I have a single 09 TTT. Or at least not one with a patch...

I want to get one of these:

But they're $100! I guess I have to wait a bit for the cheaper ones to start getting made... I was actually surprised they already have some available. Although the only reason I could see that the Indians got him was to increase jersey sales, so I guess it makes sense.

You might be able to snag an authentic blank on eBay. I know tons of fakes, but if you know what to look for you can get a real one for cheap. I can tell you where to get it lettered for ~$35 for authentic lettering (company that makes MLB lettering). That's why I have so many Rickey jerseys. Get them cheap blanks on eBay and pay to have them lettered. ~$60 beats the $250 teams charge.

To satisfy my curiosity about these cheesy-looking homemade cards, I bought one. They are always billed on ebay as being numbered #/10. They never say "serial numbered", and none of those lots ever shows the back of the card. So, I took a $4 flyer, and here's what I got.

On the back of the card is a silver STICKER that says 07/10. Ingenious I guess because they can keep producing these and putting stickers on. Plus, they never specifically describe them as serial numbered, so they can get away with multiple "07/10" cards being out there. My skepticism was confirmed. If you guys haven't bought any, but are thinking about it...consider this first. I DO love the No Smoking symbol on the back of a tobacco card. ::facepalm::

Hi Scott. I actually like those cards. I have yet to see the same serial number listed twice. For a few bucks each, it brings me back to the "broder" days. You guys getting all set for the new arrival? Due when?

They are definitley Broder style. More expensive than Broder, but if they actually number them to 10, then not so bad I guess.

We are still on course to have our baby girl delivered in mid Sept. The 20th is the official due date...but I'm seeing if we can push it to the 24th :geek: We just got the baby furniture last weekend and I've been prepping the room for weeks now. Spackle. Paint. Blinds. Valences. etc. Today I sanded down an old desk so we could repaint it for the room (sanding? not one of my favorite things in life).

Oh, and I picked this up as a second chance offer today: The guy who won it first said he didn't notice it was Paul Waner. He thought it was Lloyd Waner. So he didn't want the card, and hence since I was second in the bidding he offered it to me. Umm....WTF kind of excuse is that? PLUS, the auction had a picture of the back of the card where it clerly says Paul Waner. VERY suspect. Anyway, my win. 8-)

Scott,
Thanks for sharing the back of the Tobacco card, I've always been curious myself. When I first saw them, I thought they were interesting, but a bit pricey. I just told myself that sound guy made them in his basement, and I didn't need them. But, the Broders are one of my favorite parts of my collection, so I find it odd that I don't feel the need to track all of these down. Congrats on the TTT pickup, definitely a sweet card!

John,
I also thought that triple GU seemed a bit fishy, especially with the all white swatch in the middle. It seems to me like they were somehow able to alter the top and bottom swatch, but couldn't get to the middle one, so they just let it be. The swatch on the bottom could be legit, but the A's patch on the top looks to good to be true.

Fake. If the jersey pictured on the back is in fact the one used the card is fake. That patch is from a 94-98 Green alternate jersey (like what is shown on the front of the card) and the jersey shown on the back is from 81-83.

Picked up these two items about a month or so ago. Surprisingly, I got them from different sellers about a week apart.

76Boise1.jpg
76Boise2.jpg

1976 Boise A's schedule -- I've wanted a 1976 Boise schedule for awhile now, and was finally able to track one down

76Boise3.jpg

76Boise4.jpg

1976 Boise A's ticket -- Although it doesn't state the year on the ticket, the coupon on the back expires in December 1976. The Boise team was only in existence from 1975-1976, so there's a pretty good bet that it's a 1976 ticket. Unfortunately, the ticket isn't dated, so I don't know if Rickey actually played in this particular game, but still cool nonetheless :)

So after looking at RickeyPedia and the thread about different variations I've been checking my doubles. I have found quite a bit of variations (*, **, Inc, Inc., etc.)Dave does have the 80's Topps Glossy All Stars listed as regular and Tiffany. (There are the ones with the white border and the year in a ribbon across the top). I always thougtht these to be glossy and Tiffany-like but after looking thru my stash I did come across a couple that appear to have a regular finish (like regular topps) and some have the really glossy slick Tiffany surface. Some also have a different color stock, some are bonew white and some are light gray. I found 2 Tiffany finishes one with * and one with ** on the back. Dave only has one of them listed and the non tiffany listed as * and **. I however could only find the non Tiffany in *.

Also what is the difference between 97 Select (blue) Company and 97 Select Company Parallel?

Thanks for the info. I was thinking it was too good to be true. :o
