Wayne Terwilliger passed away today. A former Brooklyn Dodger, his passing leaves, I believe, only 13 surviving players who played for the Dodgers in Brooklyn.

Mr. Terwilliger lived in my area and I had numerous times that I met him. He was still managing the Fort Worth Cats at the age of 80 and even after retiring from baseball, he worked as a bag boy at a local grocery store just to stay busy and meet people. He always had interesting stories and never seemed to mind signing an autograph.

For fans of baseball biographies, his book "Terwilliger Bunts One" is an entertaining read. It seems like he knew, played with, managed or coached anybody of any significance on baseball over the last 70 years or so.
