Any Update? How is he holding up? Give him any packages yet???
Prayers still going out to him....
My son helped me package up our gift and I explained to him why we were sending it.
Makes you appreciate what you have......

Appreciate the bump - Adam is doing well, mother and son have been very busy and overwhelmed with support and guests of late but things are starting to settle down. I actually just reached out to her last night to see when I can meet up to give him the goods. He knows something is coming but definitely doesn't know how much. I've been on vacation for the past 10 days and just got back last night so I'll try and upload some pictures of the packages that have come in. Once I make the drop off in the next couple of weekends I'll be sure to take and post pictures.

In case you were wondering about his love for baseball, I played a pretend baseball game (fake pitch the ball, fake hit it, you get the idea) with Adam for about 45 minutes right after the funeral while everyone was inside getting refreshments. Great kid, will be incredibly appreciative.

I'm glad that I was able to send some cards to the littlle guy. I wish that I had more to send him. I cannot imagine what it would have been like to lose either one of my parents at a young age like that, heck, it would be really hard for to lose one of them right now and I'm 19. My thoughts and prayers have been with him since I first saw this thread and they will continue to be with him

This is just a glimpse of Adam's haul - needless to say, he'll be happy!

I'll be going to his tee-ball game this Saturday morning and then giving him the goods. More pictures to follow!

This is just fantastic guys. I hope it helps Adam cope for a little while with the emptiness of losing his father. I'm sure mom will also appreciate the kindness and generosity for her boy.

Hey everyone,

My apologies for the delay in getting "delivery day" posted, I'm in the midst of a move (truck finally leaves Friday morning) and as a result have had a number of busy weekends as well as some summer weddings so I haven't been able to be as active on the boards as usual. More than anything, we canceled cable and home internet access a few weeks ago so I've only been able to get online at work. With that being said, I certainly don't want this to turn into a PSA submission situation (anyone? anyone?) so I'll take some time now to catch everyone up now.

In any event, yes, the packages were delivered a few weeks ago and our boy was overwhelmed. Adam had a morning t-ball game that I attended (pictures below, kid can hit!) and afterwards I went back to the house with his mother and his grandparents (my late cousin's parents) and played for another 3-4 hours. When I say he loves baseball, this kid LOVES BASEBALL! To top it off he's Mr. Personality and I came to find out that the neighbors have nicknamed him "The Mayor" because he'll walk up to anyone willing to listen and start chatting their ears off.

Anyway, after a few hours of playing I unloaded my backseat with the giant tub of packages. Adam was completely blown away and he excitedly went through everything. I must say that the gifts were astonishing and some of the notes that were included were very touching. After everything was opened, Adam, his mother and I sat on the floor and sorted everything by player. While I don't have metrics for everyone, I can say that Adam went from owning a total of 1 Yankees card (Phil Hughes) to an astonishing 338 Derek Jeter cards alone!!! He also now has dozens of guys like Cano, Sabathia, Arod, etc.

After everything was sorted, we put them all in Ultra Pro pages that I had picked up for safe keeping. A few highlights from the haul include:

- Willie Randolph Auto's Baseball (while he didn't know Randolph yet, I explained his history and he commented something along the lines of 'Wow, I definitely can't use this ball - it has to stay in its case in my room!" - huge shoutout to AmazinHOFCollector for the generous gift along with ~60 Jeter cards including a couple of GU!)
- 2012 Topps Opening Day Sealed Box (thanks CASEBUSTERS, I couldn't believe it when I saw this!)
- 2009 Yankees World Series Program (not sure who the sender was, package was marked from Breezy Point, NY so huge thanks to whoever you are!)
- Derek Jeter Bobblehead Doll (Adam had never seen one of these before and thought it was awesome - didn't get the sender on this one either so thanks again!)

This is just a snapshot of the many amazingly generous packages that were received. A special thanks to users chromerookies, CASEBUSTERS, AmazinHOFCollector, carlitoson, joey12508, aminors, KC37, kungfuyou, superhuskiesfan1, dmarren349, richezone, and so many other tremendous members. My apologies in advance if I missed your name, I tried to take notes as we were going through but once we started getting a lot out there I was working on sorting and definitely missed some names.

One of the nicest surprises was the gratitude that both Adam's mother and his grandparents had for our gesture. Both mother and grandmother had tears in their eyes reading some of the notes and looking at where the packages were coming from - literally coast-to-coast - and I underestimated how appreciative she would be now to have a collection like this to share with her son as part of her late husband's legacy. She wanted me to send her genuine thanks to any and all who have kept them in their thoughts and prayers over the past month and a half.

Below are a few pictures of the day - I got caught up in opening everything so unfortunately I don't have shots of many of the great items, but I have some pictures from t-ball and just before we started to open when Adam was playing with the self portrait camera on my iPhone. I'll be seeing them as time permits and I'll ultimately post some pics of the album that's been put together.

Well done everyone. Glad the little day had an amazing day in lieu of a horrible time in his life.
