I'm the type that will really work with the seller and hardly leave negatives. But I'm considering chalking up a red one here:
I won this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0446771113
I immediately paid via paypal. I then asked the seller if I could have the redemption code from RHR #17 as listed in the auction. Yes, I got a major steal (it is the Longoria autograph).
He said no problem. And gave me an 11-digit redemption code. I had never redeemed a code before so I didn't immediately know it was fake. I signed up for Topps, put it in and of course I got the "codes are only 10 digits long" and was denied.
No problem, maybe he had a typo. I sent him another message back explaining codes were only 10 digits and not 11. I asked him if he made a typo and if he could double check the back of card #17 as in the picture of the auction.
He got back to me claiming it WAS typed right and was the exact code on the back of the card. At this point I think he's trying to back out of the deal b/c he doesn't want to cough up the Longoria for $9.99, but again, I give him the benefit of the doubt.
I politely say "Ok, please just send the lot to me and I will look into it when I get the package"
He messages back: I will refund you if the redemption code isn't working.
I said: "Please do not refund me. I would still like the lot. If you refund me, it will only make it look like you are backing out of our contractual agreement b/c you didn't like how much your auction sold for" (I'm thinking I get the lot of cards, if the rookie redemption is already redeemed, I file a NPB anyway for item not as described)
He doesn't respond and just refunds me today.
What would you do?
