Hopefully people can be Panini-bashers, Topps-bashers, UD-bashers, or Razor-bashers in the future and not suffer the wrath of the board and fear deletion from FCB because of same.

I always enjoyed the people who would come in like superman of the internet claiming everyone needs to stop hating and bashing, meanwhile there are 15 topic on 10 pages with some of the same people trolling and hating in yankees topics. But thats ok of course ::facepalm::

If Razor were debt would they just be able to sell the exclusive contracts and start over ?

what company would pay big money for contracts? Topps wouldn't even pay them to use Wieters.

Was Topps given the option to pay for Wieters?

Then why not use that has a bargain chip when you wee signing the players ? Topps gives you two dollars for 4 years but Razor will give you a 10.00 every year plus a lot of 100 of your own cards so you can give them out to chicks with your room number on it while on the road.

Yes.

And no one would buy those silly contracts...they are all but worthless at this point since the first year is gone.

Razor 2008 was a success on the Razor books...unfortunately, the next few years the money paid for those exclusives is being carried into the financials for those years.

For example, if Razor paid Johnny 2nd-Rounder $45,000 for an exclusive 3-year image and autograph contract, they would stretch the bonus over the length of the contract. If they were smart, they would have front-loaded it to mimic the actual value (IE: $30,000 for the first year, then $10,000 and finally $5,000 for the third and final year), but I do not believe they did that. I obviously am not privy to such information, but I will assume that Razor evenly loaded the bonus over the 3 years at $15,000/year to help their 2008 books.

Can't we just all get along? Why the negativity?
I hate when people have long posts where they just repeat stuff over and over even if they are right on with their points

;)
Debates can be load and vocal without being "negative."

Didn't UD just get the MiLB license?

Topps is getting that licence. Wait for it, it's gonna happen.

For those that ask for a source, just wait for it, news will come soon.

This was not what Razor investors had in mind at all. They were looking at spikes in the exclusive contracts that we are all still waiting for.

a few facts about my own stance

#1 I always said that signature was an entry level product and it didn't make sense to get too far invested in it. Gilmo I never got that memo lol

#2 I said letterman was a flop to begin with This I remember

#3 I said buy the player and nothing else matters from the start, and I still stick by that no matter what the current market says. I remember this

and jeff, no one feared deletion

not even you. Your issues came from your past antics on the bmb and the continuation of them here on FCB. This could not be more true

Still have to wait to see if a true (non USA) exclusive reaches the bigs. Certainly the minor league hyping and resulting spikes have not mirrored even in a smaller scale the Bowman Chrome line.

No 2009 products this year and I havent heard of anything planed for the rest of the year.

This time last year, they were the talk of the town with all their exclusives but I havent heard a peep from them yet.

Just about every product tey released has dropped, especially Letterman.

With that being said, if tey do release an auto per pack draft product with little to no exclusives, whos going to buy them? Would you?

Did the 'H' key on your keyboard break mid-post?

Wy would you say tat for? Maybe some of us cant afford a keyboard wit all the letters.

It maybe obvious, but all the Razor releases were basically 'collectors' issues' with no mainstream appeal.

It was obvious no amount of hype/assurances/claims was going to prevent any of Razor's products from being considered the Signature Rookies of this era.

My thoughts:

* Isn't the cat out of the bag? I mean UD was funding Razor. UD lost their MLB license. Razor is no longer needed by UD as a means to "hurt" Topps or to secretly release a prospect baseball card release. If there are going to be exclusives it will be through UD and the product will be released under the UD name.

* Are there any Razor "exclusives" that have been called up or are doing enough to warrant a price increase? Brett Wallace USA cards have dropped at the same % or more than Razor and I'm not trying to defend Razor in any way.

* I defended Razor for a while just because I hated the RC monopoly. But they made many mistakes, blunders, failures etc....and any baseball related release would be foolish.

Just to let you know, Brett Wallace dropped when he was traded from St Louis to Oakland (I watched the price drop to the low it is at in a matter of 3-4 days). The "proof in the pudding" has been the only one of them who got called up & had some success (Matusz). His USA auto's skyrocketed (I didn't think the cut-out auto's would make it as high as they did...boy was I wrong), while his Razor issue's barely made it to thier initial SV (I believe many of them didn't even do that). :D

Alonso could be the first or one of the first truly exclusive to make the bigs, possible mid 2010. He has no other cards which could make it interesting

Great information. Remove my 2nd thought and see 1 & 3....any baseball release would be a losing effort by Razor.
