I liked when Damon hit the HR. The NESN announcers were complaining about how easy it is to hit a HR in Yankee Stadium.

Oddly enough I didn't hear any of that whining when Pedroia hit the Homerun the previous inning, nor when Kotchmen hit his.

9-3 :D

Love the "Boston Sucks" chant. What's the record of the Yankee/Sox games recently?

Umm, whos in first place despite being 0-8 against the second place team.

Hey hey. We know you love the Yankees as if you played for them. This thread has been civil. Don't change that, please.

Smoltz is the worst MLB pitcher I have ever seen...THE WORST! I will no longer be watching any games that he is starting in.

I know typical, if a yankee hits a short homer they're all over it, but if a sox does they could care less

Well, I know when someone says "Yankee stadium is homer friendly" it generally applies to all of the homers being hit.
Why do Yankee fans always have to act like the picked-on underdogs? Everyone knows the Yankees have good players so YES they are going to be scrutinized. If you want pity and praise, go cheer for a team that's not expected to do well.

GO YANKS!!

Hope Joba is keeping loose!

Hard to do with a 30 min break on the bench.

He has looked pretty awful tonight as well. Fortunately, for him, he was matched up against the worst pitcher in the majors...

Goodbye Smoltz as a starter. I truthfully feel bad for you. I guess Atlanta saw what they needed in deciding to let you go. I still think Smoltz should be where Traber is, and Bowden should be where Smoltz is. And Traber, he should just be gone, but he will probably eat about 4 more innings.

8-1 means nothing. 3.5 means a lot more.

The Red Sox need to get into the Yankee bullpen and at least tax them tonight so they are somewhat affected for the rest of the series.

Red Sox fans who looked at the pitching matchups were lying to themselves if they truthfully expected anything better than a series split. Good news is, there are 3 more games to this series, and 5 more innings in this game. New York, will the real CC and AJ please stand up? The next two games will build, or shatter the confidence of the two of them.

Step down from the ledge Boston, and get your hand off the trophy New York.

jays_cards - I call your bluff, or I remove your Red Sox fanhood.

Maybe the Sox can get a couple runs back here in the 5th....only problem is who's coming out of the pen to keep the Yanks at 9 - certainly doesn;t look to be Billy Traber ::facepalm::

Yeah I know, I was just saying!

It would be nice to get a quick 1,2.3 in the top of the 5th...

Also, Im happy with just the 9 runs. Seems when a team blows another team away, they don;t score much the next game!

Don't walk the lead off batter after getting spotted a 6 run lead..... Or the next batter....

See above..Now that Smoltz is out, we actually have a chance. I spotted the Yanks 5 runs before the game even started with him pitching, so it is really only 1-0 in my mind

I think this is the best part about the Yankees and Red Sox swapping places since 2004. The Yankees fans used to dismiss the Red Sox fans chants of "Yankees Suck" because the Red Sox just didn't matter. Now that it's been the Yankees playing the other role they play the "poor us" card just as much as the pre 2004 red sox fans.
