Late addition for Sterling?

I doubt it. My guess is he will be a prominent feature in every 2010 Topps product. Giving him a 2009 card would just weaken the impact of the 2010 cards.

He could definitely be a redemption, and we know what that means!

Hey Kevin - did you see the Matt Cain heritage auto on the sell sheet for high numbers, but he's not on the checklist? He does have a dual auto with Ethier, but it's a redemption.

Since I got booted from the site, I have seen very little heritage action, especially auto action, I was able to nail
the one card I wanted from update, the Ibanez auto (red ink) so that was nice. Im preparing for the volcano
eruption that is 2010 heritage.....gee Cain on the presale list, but not on the checklist when the product hits...that
never happens!

Are you doing the 09 update set? I could use some help.

Kevin

I need your advice, everyone.

Should I unload this card now, or wait? (Paid around $150).

NO WAY Topps puts him in an 09 product. They're smarter than that!

This is great news for Topps, and dagger-in-the-heart news for Upper Deck at a very criticle time.

Upper Deck could care less, they have already sold out of this long ago, dagger in the heart to people who
were hording this stuff to sell later.

09 Bowman sterling has probably already sold out from Topps so why would they care to put him in it? I just dont see it happening. They will use him in another product to help sell it.

I also suspect that this signing opens the door wide open to other Scott Boras clients including Donavan Tate, Dustin Ackley, Grant Green, and Jacob Turner. These are names that would provide some major pop to topps products, as they are the most anticipated prospects from the 2009 June Draft.

Give the kid a 2010 Bowman Chrome Auto.

Please?

No kidding, this should have been done months ago to get him into 09 BDP.

Completely unacceptable if they don't make sure he is an AUTO in one of the BC sets next year.

Of course he will be, but I'm confused as to why it would be "completely unacceptable."

Am I the only one thinking "who cares?"??

So the exclusive manufacturer of baseball cards signed him to an exclusive contract. Nobody saw that coming? Well, I guess it is the off season and there isn't much to talk about...

This thread has absolutely 0 to do with razor, and the very mention of it in this thread by you is simple trolling. Your thought process here is so last year, please get with the times.

no, this is a big deal

UD is not done with baseball as they still have a MLBPA deal to support via selling products. You can bet that they haven't given up on baseball and will put out products in 2010. I was betting that they would try and sign Strasburg and others as a way of combating the topps mlb properties deal, but now even that is out of the picture.

It puts the onus on UD to do something to compete.

I'm saying razor doesn't make baseball products anymore so they are irrelevant and have been since it was made clear that they were done. Razor was 1 and done, I was wrong, get over it.

But even above getting over it, quit trolling or don't post here.

Say Upper Deck signed Strasburg to an exclusive deal, could Topps still make a rookie card of him if he made it on the roster out of spring training?

This was kind of my first thought too. But (and I ask this only semi-facetiously) with their new exclusive status, won't topps have to abide by MLB's Rookie standard and not include players like Strasburg until they've made their MLB debut? I know all the prospectors would probably view things differently, but if MLB is serious about cleaning up the confusion about what a "true" rookie card is (as has so often been said), wouldn't it make sense to draw a line in the sand at the start of this exclusive arrangement w/topps to make that happen, especially with the "greatest prospect EVER?"

Even if he didn't they would have been able to as they have the MILB license as well.
