I give up. I can't ignore 1998 Topps Tek any longer. I've been holding out with this set for 17 years. This thread was started over 3 years ago and I never read a word of it until today. Of course, I did not read all 205 pages but I did read enough to get me out of my 1998 state of mind where I thought this set was ridiculous and stupid for player collectors like myself. Like so many other times in the past, I was wrong. Now on to adding 89 cards to my ARod collection. Wish me luck.

Current 1998 Topps Tek Alex Rodriguez base card set = 1/90
Current 1998 Topps Tek Alex Rodriguez Diffractor set = 1/90............Unfortunately, staying that way.

You may also like this thread:

and see how you are with all three Tek sets. You definitely lasted longer than me!!!!!!!!!

Haha I still remember the day that I had this moment, no joke. I held out for SO long and then one day I was like fffffff!

Anyways, good luck. It will be a long road. You will quickly ramp to like 50/90 and then it will slow down ;)

Pattern 44 is in hand. She's a tad spotty but beggars can't be choosers.

Also, #29 has been located and should be in hand in a bit. That will leave only #39 to complete this 2 year conquest. Same Card#/Pattern#, hmmmmm....

Just bought 10 Topps TEK cards from Burbanksportcards. They have about 700 for sale. Buy 10 and shipping is free.

That's funny. Burbank dropped the price on a bunch of Ventura TEK doubles that I already had, but I purchased them anyway because I was sick of looking at them in my searches everyday. LOL. I basically told them that, and they said they understood.

I have also jumped headfirst into collecting another TEK guy to keep me busy, and I think I'm going to be under needing 10 cards once this purchase arrives and is combined with what I already have. More to come ....

That's really funny about the Ventura Tek doubles. Only 2 of the 10 Teks I got were 1998 Thome's and they were doubles. But at $1.60 a card, free shipping, and considering how hard they are to find, I couldn't resist. And who knows, I might decide to go after Thome Tek set #2 one day. Also got a few 1999 Thome Teks.

Let me know who the other Tek guy is you are collecting and I'll see if I have any for trade or sale.
