I don't even know why I'm doing this because the contention is so absurd and is obviously trolling, but:

Howard OPS+ WAR
2006 167 7.1
2007 144 5.1
2008 124 3.7
2009 140 4.8

Pujols OPS+ WAR
2006 178 9.8
2007 157 10.6
2008 190 11.7
2009 188 12.7

Pujols sweeps all eight.

Pujols is the 4th most searched active player on sportsreference.

(and lol at the guy saying Howard is better than Pujols)

Which proves what I said about die hard fans knowing him, but says nothing about casual fans knowing him. I just asked two more casual fans, zero have said Pujols. A Rod has been said the most, Jeter by a Yankee fan and Papelbon by a pink hat Sox fan.

When you Google or Bing Pujols' name, his sportsreference is on the first page, so that could be casual fans as well. I agree that he is not as known as a bunch of names, but I also don't think it's as bad as some think.

the mere fact that you have dig up stats, (and whatever WAR is), proves my point. As AMAZING as Alberto
has been, Howard is still right there with him. You homers have to come on here and dig deep into baseball
stats just to convince yourself. (did you?)

and when its found out that Pujols was on the juice there is going to be mass suicide here. Anyone have a fancy
youtube video of dat?

I am going to try to question 100 random people about it at work. So far I have asked 6 people and we have 4 A Rod, 1 Papelbon, and 1 Jeter. I will be updating with my results. I am also going to question people I know are die hard here and follow a lot of baseball, like work in the Cape League or Umpire in a separate poll.

Ah. Fair question. But it doesn't give him a ranking in where he stands in say, the top five or ten, because it's a very specific question that has nothing to do with Pujols unless they think he is the best.

I thought we were trying to find out if the casual fan knew who Pujols was? Not if they considered him to be the best player in Baseball.

That's what I was getting at, just worded differently.

Ask almost anyone who is best in NFL you will get answer of Manning, brees or Brady, NBA you get Kobe or Lebron, NHL Ovi or Crosby. Pujols isn't at that level in Baseball with casual fans.

I believe baseball is a LOT more suggestive than the NFL as the NFL has FAR less games played. It's a LOT easier to define who is the best in the NFL, IMO.

You should ask them who Pujols is. Asking them who they think is the best does nothing to prove your point.

That also does nothing to show he is in the top players, everyone here knows who JD Drew is, is he the biggest star? I asked one so far and they had no clue who he was.

How about I print a headshot and see how many know? What will it take for people to admit that he just is not a superstar?

I will ask "Who is the best player?", if they don't answer Pujols, will ask who is the guy in the black shirt.

Beefy, I think the only way to truly get a grasp on what we are talking about would be to show people a picture of Pujols in-uniform, but with his last name blocked out, and ask if they can name him.

This is getting pretty silly. The sample size is so small that there's not going to be any meaningful conclusions. Unless you have a good amount of time, there's really no good way of doing it.

That being said, I'm not sure what we are really arguing over. Is it that people believe Albert is the best player in baseball or Is it that the casual fan knows who he is? I think the answer to either question is probably somewhere in the middle of our views. While there's probably a little less wiggle room on him being the game's best player, I think he's probably more widely known than you believe and less than I believe.
