Is this the proper thread to be asking basic hockey questions for a newbie?? If it is, I got a few :)

I saw the Wild picked up their first win tonight. Against the 2-0 Oilers no less. Go Mikko Koivu and his two goals.

Who are considered the big guns when it comes to enforcers these days in the NHL? I know Boogaard is on the list somewhere, from watching him here in Minnesota. Just have no clue who else is.

Tonight is big night for fight fans. The Rangers-Leafs game with Colton Orr and Boogaard is one fight fans have been waiting for. Will be interesting to see what Orr does. Did Burke and Wilson give hime orders not to fight him tonight, because of KO he took was just 2 days ago. Does Orr want to redeem himself asap of that fight and go after the #1 guy tonight. Or does he wait till next games vs. Rangers. They play them 2 more times in next couple weeks. Orr and Boogaard have never fought in NHL game. They did fight a long time ago in juniors or minors. You know the Boogaard wants to fight in front of home crowd tonight. Would be his first fight as a Ranger. I'm kinda on the fence. Orr is one of my favorite players. I think he should wait for Boogaard and fight him in the next game. But knowing the warrior Orr is he will be game tonight. If he fights, he needs to be protective and keep it in tight and not expose himself to a Boogaard bomb.

Top big heavys in NHL
Macintyre EDM
Boogaard NYR
Shelley Philly
Orr Leafs
McGratton just signed with Boston
Godard Pit
Carkner Ott
King Caps
Gillies NYI
Jannsen Blues not super big, but very tough
Ivannis in Calgary although he got destroyed by Big Mac in Edm after a great preseason showing with him.

Pens-NYI has some nice potential. Godard-Gillies would be a good one. But knowing Pens they will have Godard in pressbox. Konopka is always game. Could see him and Rupp or Engelland going.

Hey guys. I'm having a hard time with something that maybe somebody can help me out with. Does anyone know where I can find a full list of all teams that have been affiliated with the Tampa Bay Lightning? I know that the Atlanta Knights were, and a few others, but i don't know them all and their years. I can't find it anywhere.

I can help you with their current affiliates, which you probably already know.

Norfolk Admirals are their current AHL (American Hockey League) affiliate and the Florida Everblades are their ECHL (East coast Hockey League) affiliate. Johnstown Chiefs were a former ECHL affiliate years ago. As far as other past affiliates maybe someone else will have a link for you as im not to sure.

Thanks for offering the help. I knew about their current ones and the Chiefs (used to pick up Lightning garb when I'd go to Chiefs games at the time). It's turning out to be a lot harder than I thought it would be.

the Penguins will try for the 4th time to win in the CONSOL Energy Center as they host the Islanders tonight.

Brent Johnson will start in goal for the Pens.

Rick Dipietro will start in goal for the Islanders.

Johnathan Tavares is not playing again due to post concussion symptoms.

Mike Rupp gives the Pens a 1-0 lead early in the 2nd Period.

this is the first time the Pens have scored the first goal in the CEC.

Kris Letang just received a Game Misconduct for hitting Blake Comeau with a shoulder to shoulder hit. the refs completely blew this call. Letang didn't leave his feet of raise his elbow. the call was a 5 minute major for [strike:1t0iojl5]elbowing[/strike:1t0iojl5] now it has been changed to an Illegal Hit to the Head (he never even made contact with his head) and he never lifted his elbow. Comeau's helmet came off but he got up skated to the bench and returned to the game for his next shift.

I understand the refs are trying to protect players but this was not a head shot.

They are always going to miss a few calls, both ways.

yeah I have calmed down about it now and understand what they think they saw but it still sucks that Letang got tossed for throwing a great check.
