Closer to 57 than 56 yrs.

Semi-retired, debating on going back to work, but on MY terms. Worked Electrical construction for 30+ years. Thank god I'm in good health, and my knees and back are in great shape.
How many good zaps did you get? Too many to remember??
Worst one I have ever had was getting zapped by an open neutral (grey wire) on a 480/277 lighting circuit. I could have gotten killed by this. ( I was an apprentice in 1980) Otherwise safety first! I have worked on everything from low voltage, 12v, to 13,200 v substations. From being a serviceman (dingbat truck), to supervising multi-million dollar heavy industrial (power plants) projects.

I have no problem working energized equipment, I have been trained by some of the best mechanic's in our industry. Too bad the young kids won't listen, and give the respect to older Journymen that they deserve.

Just finished my mine safety certification (MSHW), and OSHA 30 certification in case I want to take some work this summer here in the Upper Peninsula.

Naw, I have to get the boat ready for fishing. And I would have no time for the MT during the morning/afternoon.

Well color me surprised, friends. Here I was foolishly thinking that at 32 I was somewhat of an elder statesman here. Quite refreshing to see that I'm more of a spring chicken!

...my dad's also an electrical engineer - just a tad older than Ralph (he just turned 59 two weeks ago).

Good morning Richard.
I miss pinball machines. Most of the bars in Wisconsin replaced them with those cherry master slot machines in the bars.

I am the youngest in the MT and I believe the 3rd youngest active poster.

I am off to the PO to pick up a mailer for my photo.. It has to be shipped today to make sure it gets there in time.

I wonder what I should ask for as an inscription...

I need 2 more years at Milwaukee School of Engineering to complete my degree in the EE-ET program. I've debating on finishing. Dropped out in 1988, due to believing I would not be compenstated for my on the job experience as an entry level Engineer.

I was supervising a job at the Chrysler plant in Kenosha, WI (old AMC plant), working overtime and trying to carry 8 credits per quarter. And I was juggling 2 girlfriends at the time while working overtime. The only year I actually paid up my Social Security for the year early. The top end was $48K, now it's over $110k to fully pay up for the year.

I might have screwed up, due to where the construction industry has progressed in the last decade. But I was lucky to have full employment until the last 5 years, and I have a local union annuity that I was able to draw on early to retire, and live on. I have no one to leave my assets to, so I'm going to spend it.

Leave it to the MT

I'm just about to line up my apprentiship. Had an offer for a refrig. construction company and will take it if the others dont pan out. I want to be in the mechanics and not construction, but hours are hours and it would be a good gig.

Moon, like most drummers, died way to young. Peart's daughter was killed in a car accident and his wife died less than a year later from cancer. He could have ended things after that but focused on his music and becoming the best ever.
