I cannot believe how many people are coming out of the woodwork to apologize for/defend McGwire.

All of this, "he admitted it, we can forgive him" bs, can float down the river with the rest of the turds.

Well we all have our opinions dont we

I think he may already be gone this morning, but I wanted to say thank you to laneyb for a very nice mailday yesterday. :D

I had not gotten one of these yet, and this one has a perfect pinstripe.

Also got this one in an off eBay deal for $2. Goes nicely with the Legacy I got last week.

Morning people....Big Mac is a disgrace, and I was a fan. To do it now, just b/c it benefits HIM, so he can get back into the game and get a paycheck is a joke. It just confirms what everyone already knew, and its too little too late in my book.

Inquiring minds want to know......Honestly torn about the Mad Dog. If there is one person on the planet that could get me to be a Cubs fan it's Maddux. However, as an assistant and specializing in player devel. etc. I'm not getting too riled up about it. If he were to actually coach, then we'd have a problem and some serious decisions would need to be made. (Please note: I was a Cubs fan for the begining and towards the end of Maddux's career). Honestly hope it doesn't happen.

I hope that everyone that takes the hard line against McGwire does so towards all other players that used and abused any substance. There are players in the HOF that used amphetamines, alcohol, drugs, and countless other products. Not that any of that is right but come on.

I see it as not being beneficial to himself, sounds like he could have taken this to his grave. Baseball was/is his life and wanting to share his knowledge let him back to Tony's bench. He needed to say what he said in order to clear the air and not be a distraction. Besides, people knew in 1998 that he was using when reports asked him about the bottle that were on open display in his locker, but I guess some people forget about that.

Listen to his words and how they were said, I believe him when he says he would have told all if he would have been given immunity.

Besides, what will everyone think if he hits a Pitch hit HR in the fall?

Pre-work drama is the best!

Some non-driving ******* decides they want to get into my lane and into my exact spot while giving me a look like "what are you doing there". I really can't stand the majority of the population of the world.

To be quite honest George, I have never liked him. That being said, I believed him last night when he said this,
he says he would have told all if he would have been given immunity
and I honestly started to feel bad for him at that point. But as soon as those words left his mouth,
all sympathy for him was lost, and I immdeiately started to disbelieve him again.

The very next topic they discussed was the fact that steroids helped him get stronger, and helped him hit HRs.
And his response was...no. That was all my baseball skill. The steroids just helped me recover from injury and get back on the field.

If all that is true, why did he feel the need to apologize to Mrs. Maris?

The other issue, being discussed on Mike & Mike this morning, is the fact that the statute of limitations
on the congressional hearings expired sometime in 2006, so he could have talked about this anytime since then.

He talked about it now because he's getting back into baseball, period.

I know everyone's opinions are different, and this is the last I'll say about it. I just know
that I don't like him or believe him anymore than I have for the last 10 years.

Whats weird George, is that those always sold well, even before the HOF spike. I don't have one because they always end too high.

They do well and the Brock is right on price wise, I am guessing Dawson sold for 1.5-2x the normal closing price.

Yeah, 1.5x sounds about right. They usually end for $20-25. I went to check Beckett for the print runs and got this.
1/12/2010 8:00 AM: Beckett.com is currently down for maintenance while we release a new minor version. Estimated down time is approximately one hour
