I've been trying to work trades on there but it takes just short of a miracle.

Exactly.

I just went and checked eBay again, and there aren't any 2003s listed for Dawson. The bat or bat/auto,
so they must be relatively SPed.

This ended for $225.

We have to get more HOF/Star collectors on the trade boards here. I dont visit as much because I have nothing in the way of prospects to offer...

I have made a few trades here, but its def. tough. If they ever get that trade manager up and running, that could help.

Bruce - Did you see my post on page 2? Thanks again brother!

You're welcome my friend. I can't see any photobucket pictures at work, they block that horrible horrible site.

Almost all of the trades I've made here have been via pm, not really through the trade boards...

On beckett you have to have the cards you're trading in the organize section and what not. It's a big hassle I think to trade over there but that hasn't stopped me.

Can anybody offer their opinion on the best book or books to read on Maris and/or Mantle?

I haven't been reading much since Olivia was born (used to read 1 a week before) and plan to start again.

I also plan on reading Card Sharks and The Card. Any other good baseball books I'm overlooking?

Morning Everybody! I do not trade to much on any site anymore. Mainly stick to here or the Bench. Though there is not to much I am looking for anymore either.

Not Maris or Mantle, but here are some great reads:

The Echoing Green by Joshua Prager
The Original Curse by Sean Deveney
What Ever Happened To The Hall of Fame? by Bill James

VERY good book, this one.

I'm currently reading "A Great Day in Cooperstown: The Improbable Birth of Baseball's Hall of Fame" by Jim Reisler. It's light reading, but enjoyable.

Planning a trip to Cooperstown in March...

I hope that everyone that takes the hard line against McGwire does so towards all other players that used and abused any substance. There are players in the HOF that used amphetamines, alcohol, drugs, and countless other products. Not that any of that is right but come on.

I see it as not being beneficial to himself, sounds like he could have taken this to his grave. Baseball was/is his life and wanting to share his knowledge let him back to Tony's bench. He needed to say what he said in order to clear the air and not be a distraction. Besides, people knew in 1998 that he was using when reports asked him about the bottle that were on open display in his locker, but I guess some people forget about that.

Listen to his words and how they were said, I believe him when he says he would have told all if he would have been given immunity.

Besides, what will everyone think if he hits a Pitch hit HR in the fall?

Bonds, Aroid, Sosa, Petite, Palmeiro, and Mcgwire are all scumbags for doing what they did. I don't discriminate. ;) I also don't think that alcohol and drugs fall into the same category as steroids. That being said, Mcgwire could have taken it to the grave, buth the only way he was going to admit the steroids was so he could get back into baseball somehow. For him to do this is a benefit to him and no one else. Do I believe him, sure. Do I think he is the anti-christ, no. Did him calling Mrs. Maris and telling her first was, not classy, but the least he could/should do, undoubtably yes. Regardless, the cat was already out of the bag and everyone knew it. For me personally as a fan of his and a fan of the game its too little too late. If people love the man more even now for doing this they're entitled to their opinion.

We hit 200+ posts yesterday I think. I tried to bring up a topic of conversation above, but I think half the
MT foed me after my McGwire comments.
