I got a couple "G's" into Matt Antonelli ::facepalm:: I wish I had never pulled that gold ref auto when they came out and started collecting him then ::facepalm::

This would have to be my worst, still only about $150 total (also have another gold somewhere).

Looks like I'm one of the few with the pitchers.

Chuck James - Sterling Black BGS9.5 & a few Topps Chrome Red X-Fractors, and Chorme graded stuff & Beau Jones - both Braves & Lefty.

I'm a lefty so I have a good amount of MadBum stuff as well, but I don't see him ending up on this list (I hope not at least).

Little late on the thread but....

I never got into prospecting but did pick up a PSA 10 Jamie D'Antona about 5-6 years ago I think. He was one of the subjects of a book I read called "The Last Best League" (or maybe The Last Great League) about the Cape Cod Summer League. He came out of Georgia Tech and was from a town nearby where I grew up. It was some Bowman Chrome card, I think an X-Fractor. I only paid $60 for it though.

I did sell of a BGS 9.5 '99 Topps Chrome Traded Corey Patterson for $510. It was shortly after the product release and at the time, it was one of only two to be graded 9.5 by BGS. I wonder how much it would cost to get one now.

2005 was a bad year for me (lucky less than $50 invested in each):

Micah Schnurstein
Paul Kelly
John Drennen
Elliot Johnson

Pretty close to a bust, unless it clicks this year bigtime...

Chris Nelson - 2004

9/16 Sterling Black Refractors

3/20 Topps Chrome Unc. Xfractors

7/25 Fleer Red Hot Auto

I don't feel like getting into my costs, but lets just say it's ridiculous.

Last few years put about $2-300 in these players:

Michael McCardell
John Raynor
Steve Hill
Heath Rollins

Most of my money went into McCardell, but have high parallels of all the other guys. I now realize that it isn't very wise to invest in older prospects, just because they are tearing up rookie ball.

I was gonna post my guy.

But then I found out he just un-retired.

He has signed with detroit. Where he is ironically blocked again by miguel cabrera.

You know who it is.

Say it with me.

Who was it with the insane Jay Sborz stash?

This was just posted on Tuesday, so maybe there's hope!

Daeyel? I remember b/c he kept outbidding me on sborz in ’03. I don’t even know why I picked sborz- just a random, low $ gamble (highest card I had was an xfractor- my investment wasn’t huge- maybe $50-75?). Don’t think I have any left, but if I do, it’s probably 2-3 psa 10 autos.

as for chris nelson, that was so frustrating- you kept outbidding me lol so i hardly got any (1 tc ref i think? sold long ago)

Lol another dude who kept outbidding me so my attempt to hoard a prospect was failed. Think I finally gave up on stokes + sold my last 1 (maybe I still have it- xfrac 9.5). I bought/sold/bought/sold him so many times, it’s not funny…ah, 02 bcdp, I’ll forever love you

ugh, Reid Engel and Ryan Pope. I once owned 10 of the 25 Pope orange refs. I had about 500 into him and about the same into Engel. Can't win them all I guess.

I think i ended up buying 6 of his chrome refractors from you for 60 or maybe it was 8 for 80.

That's what you call a lose/lose deal :)

1999 Bowman Chrome Willi Mo Pena... still have about 40 of them, I thought he was going to be huge

I've also sunk a ton into Will Venable, but I do collect his stuff so it's not an investment (plus he's doing well so I could conceivably make some money if I wanted to). The only Venable's I really regret buying are the (15) 06 Sterling Black Refractor's /25. I paid around $50 each for a bunch of them and they would have depreciated on their own without these bastards somehow getting their hands on seemingly hundreds of unnumbered fakes. It really grinds my gears...

I feel the same way. A lot of my guys have 2006 black sterling cards. Doesn't help that Beckett will grade these as authentic even though they are replacements with no number. Made a deal with a guy at a show for a Zumaya black. Ask to see the card before we exchange money (to see if its legit...and it was un-numbered) and he made a big fuss about it at the show. Finally got to see it and it was a replacement so I backed out of the deal. He yelled and screamed and made a big deal that I claimed his cards weren't legit (never said that...jsut didnt want to buy an un-numbered copy). Me and him don't do business anymore...but he shows up with more and more 2006 graded parallels with no number every week.

I have a feeling you're gonna make bank on that sig of yours though. I wasted about $120 on Billy Rowell and $80-90 on Jarrod Parker. I'm lucky if I could get $50 for all of it now. I still have hope with Parker, but it's gonna take a while.
