The most you've paid for a prospect that never panned out?

I currently own over a hundred 2001 Joel Pineiro chrome parallels/Bowman rc autos/Omega rc's. I also have 60 Rafael Soriano 2001 rc autos that I bought in 2001-2002... I don't want to even think about what I paid for them back then.

Ouch, those Omegas were pricey!!

I can relate with Delmon Young. Not sure what I was thinking (I wasn't...) when I bought it at insane prices. $400 for an SPx ($280 for a second one.) And that was just the beginning...

Yeah... I have a friend that used his entire bonus on Delmon Young & Alex Gordon. About $4K on each. Still has every card. What else can you really do but hope they have a good year and the prices bounce back up. At least they are still really young and could have good years this year.

I keep telling myself that my Hernan Iribarren cards are a "collection" after I've realized that they aren't worthy of being a stash. I've decided that if he pans out with another team, I'll move them. If nothing comes of him (too bad too, since he makes nice contact and hits for average), I've decided I'm going to ship the entire collection to him gratis. I have most of the better 1/1s anyway.

The only one player I've dumped a lot of cash into is Trevor Plouffe. A high school stand out, a teammate of mine, first round pick, I figured he was a good kid with a lot of talent. Half PC, half investment, I was buying from 2005-2007; the prospect game was relatively booming and I paid accordingly.
I think I have about 10 or 11 of the 25 2004 Bowman Sterling black refractor autographs.

I believe a BMB member has his Sterling Red and/or an SP Prospects auto gold /10 or the 1/1. Anyway, I made him a few generous offers over time but I think he wanted to try and squeeze more cash out of me. I declined, thank god.

Hopefully Plouffe makes some noise ST or during the season and I can flip a few things, but I don't think I'll ever get $20-25 for his 2004 SP Prospect autos again. The last 5 or so have ended between $5-10 delivered.

I bought a lot of Delmon stuff too, but got rid off it early. I do remember spending several hundred on a Rick Ankiel Ultimate Victory. I also didn't do too well on Irvin "Joel" Guzman 2001 Topps Chrome Retrofractor.
