Without knowing the history of this transaction, and not speaking as a moderator, but just a guy who has been around a long time, I'm shocked to see a great guy like danimal who has been around a long time without any incident whatsoever getting trashed like this. APharis, dude, sometimes you gotta know the parties involved before you start levying the heavy blows. I'm all for giving a fair shake to a new guy, but we're talking about danimal here. He wouldn't have said anything unless he had significant belief that something was wrong. I wish he would have figured that out before he paid, but clearly he did not.

Dan, I hope you get your money back or your card. Sorry this happened, and no, FCB is not for cheating bastards, but unfortunately the occasional ****** bag does slip through.

You mean, the guy who has been here for 6 months and has 82 posts, that guy? The one we all know and love and would never think once would be a nuisance?

Couldn't be that guy.

But its not just him, its him and two other members!

I would be doing the same thing Dan is doing, and you would be crazy if you didnt or APharis didnt do the same thing!!

Shep

You mean, the two other members who started a post about this guy and left feedback calling him a thief?

If, after 7 to 10 business days (you see, I live in Germany, on a military installation, so mail takes a little while to get here) past the ship date, I still had nothing, then I would have ratcheted it up a notch and brought him to the board's attention.

I mean, that would only be the RATIONAL thing to do.

So if you agree and pay for overnight shipping, you'd wait 7 to 10 business days?[/quote:uub5cum0]

The next day he told everyone he sent USPS.

I would have PM'ed him and asked why he did not send overnight, as i had payed for.

Based on his response, I would a) ask for a refund and/or b) contact your or another trade mod to alert to fishy business and to seek out any help I could find.

shep - I understand this is an expensive deal. I've had experiences in expensive deals as well so I know the hesitation and how you are on edge with EVERYTHING. I still would have acted differently then he did.

There is no right or wrong way to act here. Everyone is going to act differently and cares about their money differently.

Lets let this play out and see what happens.

No shots, shep ;)

I was saying I know how it feels to be on edge when hundreds of dollars are in someone else's hands and you do not have the card(s) yet. It was all one statement, not to broken up in one sentence.

Why did it take 7 pages for someone to say this? From an entirely outside view, there seemed to be a lot of public overreaction by some. I know how it feels to get that "itch" that a deal may go sideways, but...

FCB has rules of conduct for this situation, and all parties have failed to follow them.

Pretty sure he is thebaseballcardhutasi. I've dealt with him before and he's a pretty honest guy. It's amazing to see so many on this board trashing a guy who has valid complaints. Some people on here just need to suck up their ego and quit being so abrasive.

Yet ignore that he was being less than professional in digging up personal stuff on the guy????

Karma is a bitch. Im a great trader but if somebody came out and did that to me I wouldn't be against screwing around with them in the trade. There is no place for either, but airing personal business on this board is about as crappy as it gets and crosses all lines, even more than financial.

5majors has no excuse for ignoring danimal, but danimal has no excuse for doing what he did. Bottom line, its baseball cards. Second point...he paid with a CC so I dunno why he was all up in arms about it. Let it settle itself out and then make a claim if he's a scammer. Its literally nothing out of your pocket. Isn't that the point of CCs?

In my experiences Dan is far from a cool guy. Sorry.

No one is trashing him outside of the fact that this all could have waited until 100% certain something was going on. Seriously - this is what trade mods are for. You don't start a thread minutes later ragging on the guy and swamping him with requests for this and that. Maybe the guy is extremely busy -- he obviously isn't a brick and mortar business so common sense would say that things may not go as smoothly as you'd hope. He's obviously in need to money to fix his car so let it play out.

As Andrew (AIC) said, all of this horn blowing is going to scare the guy away and make him not want to work things out. Read back on the original thread - he tried to dispel everyone's fears, but a few of the buyers immediately started calling him a fraud because it was OH SO IMPOSSIBLE for him to have 5 Stras autos.

Honestly - I don't care if it were danimal or anyone else. If you are that worried, file a chargeback, contact his local PD and wait until it's over and done with before you start dragging names in the mud.

That's all I've said since the beginning - if you want your money, file a chargeback. I don't know if the guy is ripping you off or not, but NEITHER DO YOU. It's just extremely douchebaggy to throw $500+ to someone with the PayPal name "Jackson Hewitt" and THEN do research on him before playing the victim.

I know bmc and myself have exchanged words, but I agree 100%. Not even 24 hours into the sale, danimal was throwing out this guy's personal details. I don't know why threads had to be made when all it takes it letting the mods know, putting a "do not deal" feedback and filing a chargeback. That way, at least you don't look like an ******* for calling someone a THIEF before shipping status has even been updated.

I'm not taking any shots at the trade mods, but I am seriously wondering what can they do to fix a situation like this or any bad trade. I seriously wonder this when they say it, and its not because of who they are specifically. I am asking what could anyone do if they were trade mod to fix a problem like this. Its not like they can log into his paypal account and refund the people, so what can they exactly do?

All I did was google his photobucket account and his personal web site popped up! It wasn't like I dug deep! I was just passing on that he was using a fake name "Jackson Hewitt".

And my mom told me yesterday I was a cool guy, so don't know where you get your info from, you just don't like me because I think the Big 10 and Perdon't is a joke!

Like I said I learned my lesson I should have kept my mouth shut and let several others of you send him $500! In 48 hours this guy got 4 people to send him nearly $2000. Had I not posted and let it be known what a tool this guy is who knows how much more damage would have been done?

My original post is to the Batman Signal as cookies are to tasty. I think I did a great public service and for that you are all welcome.

He was on here for quite a while in FCB's birth year. Not sure where he headed off to. I know he really got into hockey.

Ah, one of the bright spots of my time on BMB. I remember that the "Love Boat" ripping escalated to epic proportions...
