Figured it was time to move on to QBs. If you pick other, please explain.

I went with Rodgers.

I didn't add Peyton because he missed last season.

Joe Flacco is going to be pissed if he finds out he was not on this list. He will tell you he is the greatest starting QB in the NFL, hands down.

I also went with Rodgers, but I think there's a question to ask - is Rodgers that damn good, or is it just Green Bay? Matt Flynn came in and threw for 4,513 yards in one game at the end of the season. If you put Rodgers on another team, could he replicate his success? I'm going to say "yes".

Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan, Philip Rivers, and Tony Romo (it hurts to say Romo) don't belong on this list.

I think Roethlisberger is overrated as a quarterback. When asked to win the game from start to finish as a passing quarterback, he falters. If he gets hit early or makes an early mistake, it snowballs. The Steelers did find some success with their "everybody go deep and hope Ben doesn't overthrow you" offense, but teams eventually caught on after enough tape was out there to prepare for it. He is lucky to have had a good defense to win games for him. You can't call yourself an elite quarterback when you are winning games 10-3 on a regular basis. If you gave him an average defense like some other QBs have to back them up, he can't put up enough points to get a win. Ben needs a good running game behind him so that the whole game is not on him. That's how he thrives...and there's nothing wrong with that; he fills that role well.

Matt Ryan is above average, but not great. I'd like to elaborate more on this, but he's so damn boring and non-elite that I can't think of anything he's done to comment on, other than he at least wins.

Rivers is on that bubble, but he needs to find his way to the Super Bowl to reach that upper echelon, even though he will still be on the bottom of that list. Looking at him makes me want to punch him in the face, so perhaps those feelings make me think less of him as a player...and as a man. If we did a list of Top ********** Playing QB, I think he would top it out at #1, edging out Tom Bieber.

Tony Romo is also right on that bubble, because he has great talent and skill, but he needs to find the way to get into the playoffs and win once there, even in spite of his team if they are faltering as a unit. He also needs to establish consistency. For every ESPN top 10 plays highlight, there is a picture waiting to be memed. He can run around for 20 second in the pocket and let off a beautiful pass while getting drilled, but he can also bobble a field goal snap when the game is on the line. I think he improved greatly last year. With the exception of the Detroit game, he played a solid season. The fact that he took such a beating in the 49ers game, then came in to come from behind and win shows that Romo is slowly climbing the ladder towards that elite tier.

Thought it was a no brainer to pick Brees...I'm the only one without a brain, I guess...

Great post Mag! A lot of good points. I went with statistical passing yards leaders from last season. I figured that was a fair and subjective way to make the list.

As for Rodgers, I agree that GB's system probably helps him. The weapons around him as well. I feel the same could be said for Brees and Brady. I'm not saying that just any random QB could step in and replace those guys, but Flynn performed well when Rodgers sat just like Cassel performed well in NE when Brady was injured.

Gwynn- :lol: It's all subjective. I am sure that others feel that Brees is the best active QB as well.
